I think it's more likely to be German rather than Dutch. Mostly given German is a more dominant European language than Dutch (being one of the latter ;)) I said Dutch because the girl who I was friends with on my stint there was kind enough to yell at some Dutch Marines after they had been making s...

I went to Norway and they have to learn Norwegian, Dutch, English and one other language of their choosing in school (if this has changed, speak up oh friends from Norway ;) ). I think it's more likely to be German rather than Dutch. Mostly given German is a more dominant European language than Dut...

How about you stop focusing on what the scale says, and just lose weight and exercise until you feel and look fit? Weight is not exactly a good measure anyway... you're weighing bone, muscle, fat, blood and water etc. If you're losing fat and working out and gaining muscle, then it's worth knowing t...

but I use aspartame instead of sugar. Yuck, aspartame. I avoid artificial chemical sweeteners like the plague. I don't like the fact that most of them give lab rats cancer and are known carcinogens, are known to build up in fat cells and stuff, and have expansive lobbies pushing that shit through t...

For this week, bread, pasta, cheese, and the like are forbidden. Grains are encouraged, but in the form of like Kashi cereal and the like...mixed in with non-fat yogurt instead of in milk. If I do want starches, they recommend 1/2 sweet potato (sweet potatoes have more fiber than regular potatoes)....

I am in the middle of Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers. Medical student tests and body snatchers to embalming and after death care, it's very interesting what an empty human shell can go through. There is some humor thrown in so it won't be too depressing. Isn't that a fantastic book? Som...

Maybe his style of cooking has to do with the way his general meal provider cooked when he was growing up. Like Seymour's mother and her medicinal concoctions in the 1960's "Little Shop of Horrors". Seymour grew up with cold syrup and laxative oils in his food and acquired the taste I gue...

Personally, I find that a lack of time is the biggest problem when it comes to eating healthily. As much as I love cooking after a long day the temptation to order a takeaway or shove a pizza in the oven can be huge. The best solution I've ever come across in this respect was when my Nana bought me...

I worked out today. I haven't worked out in probably almost a year. Been watching what I eat (but more what I drink since beer and alcohol is how I got so friggin fat)...slowly getting the ball rolling. Again. Yo-yo dieting is bad for you, so I hope this is the last time I do it. I mean I've lost a...

I also look up to Cleopatra. She was a woman who ran her own country and did what she felt se had to do in order to keep it. Personally, i do not think she committed suicide. There was actually a TV show on recently, on the History or Discovery channel or some such, where they theorised about her d...

I was assulted this week by a student, for being a foreigner. The right side of my face is swollen up right now after being punched and hit with a chair. Apparently these first year kids have formed a certain "hate group" at my school and put this one kid up to it. My company, and the min...

Being a member of their mailing list, I got a code to share from Piratemod.com. They want to see how well word-of-mouth marketing works, and we win out. For 3 more days from when I post this, there's a 50% code that you can use on any entire order with them. With Talk Like A Pirate Day coming up lat...

My last two finishes were Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's Book of the Dead and Elizabeth Peters' The Curse of the Pharaoh . Currently I'm reading Stephanie Meyers' Twilight , and much like with the Harry Potter books, as probably one of the last people on the planet to do so :P Next up after thi...

Sounds yummy, must try this sometime. It is similar to what we called shepherds pie at work, but that is traditionally made with lamb. Not that I can buy lamb very easily in our grocery stores. Yeah, they're pretty similar. In that same cookbook there's a recipe for Shepard's pie, but I haven't tri...
