Last post of the previous page :

I could say I like HIM,

or I could say that I _did_ like them and the only redeeming quality is the fact that a mix CD I made of them holds as a psychological link to one of the most valuable relationship's I've had...or at least a part of it.

So I'll go with the latter ;)

/div WroteColonSo... How were they?

Predictably un-interesting. The support band put on one of their typically fantastic show's though so that was cool.
I may be wrong, perhaps a fan could help out, but Im 98% sure I heard a Niel Diamond cover in their set-list?
I think the worst thing about the night was that I was (Just to be nice) pretending to actually like HIM to their drummer (he turned up at our club) so that conversation became irritatingly long ???
The support band were also there, and they were really cool.

vervain WroteColonHeh.. I wonder.. out of how many people here who like HIM..
How many of those are female?

I'm willing to bet they are lusting after Ville Valo more than anything else.

Nope. As with the majority of bands I like I didn't know what any of HIM looked like before I got into them.

Reasons why I can't stand HIM (or HER):

1. Teenage girls fall for their looks and lyrics=think theyre goth
2. Look at the frontman, Vile Valo, Its a girl not a guy. Bone and skin, nothing else. I mean he shaves his pubes to put a tatoo there. (how bad is that)
3. I just dont like the way the sound. Simple.

I love HIM i dont care if they re mainstream or on MTV. Just listen to "Funeral of hearts", "Buried alive by love", or "Gone with a sin"...
Btw they never claimed to be a goth band.

If you want a finnish rock band listen to 69 Eyes B)

As for Valo looking like a girl, well... how is that different from the many goth men we see around who look like women? And shaving pubic hair is pretty common in both men and women no? I've seen people who're so inked with tattoos finding their skin can be a challenge. :)

Anyway to get back on topic, I think some of HIM's songs are pretty good and they're one of the mainstream bands I enjoy listening to.

I have never seen HIM on MTV at all or any music channel like The Box or VH1. Actually as far as I have seen for the last year at least I have seen a total of ZERO videos on MTV no matter what time of day I've looked.

/div WroteColonI bet most of their - girlie - fans like them only because of their looks.

I think any tall, thin guy that wears eyeliner is going to appeal to the middle-class, maladjusted, teen girl market. Myself, I think there is something just oh so unsexy about men who wear pants at the hips and wrap themselves up in christmas lights.

I vote no..Can't stand the guitar and dull lyrics.

It was after i bought their first album that I found out about the bands looks. So I can assure you it has nothing to do with Ville. Though I won't deny that after a year or so, I've now begun to find him.. let's just say.. attractive in some unusual way. Even I accept he isn't exactly cute or anything, and he does look like a girl. But like I said, It's an anusual attraction and I'm just weird like that :p

So yes. I've loved them for a year now and I have all their albums. I even have a t-shirt. And just for the record, I have NEVER seen them on tv on the count of..

1. Their singles aren't played here in Mexico
2. I don't even watch tv.

But nah.. it's not really a guilty pleasure. I don't feel guilty (:

I have one CD of them...I'm not really impressed. It's okay music, but nothing special. Just another one of those things I have on my computer, I guess. Like Nightwish...won't miss them if they went away...
