I thought they might have gotten another kid to play the part of Newt, seeing as how the original actress couldn't have continued in that role anyway, what with six years having passed between movies. (Newt couldn't have aged six years.) I guess it was more convenient for the scriptwriters to just kill Newt off. R.I.P. Newt. -- Nephele I have a similar issue with the "Men in Black" movies. After Linda Fiorentino proved too difficult to work with, they mindwiped L/Elle instead of just getting another actress to play L/Elle. I really wish they would have recasted the part instead of giving her amnesia.

 Re: Prometheus
I'm pretty excited for this film. At first I was very worried, considering that the original Xenomorph would be redesigned and not have a major role, but the Space Jockey seems to be giving a promising role in the film.

I still have no idea wether this is or isn't related to the "Alien" movies...

 Re: Prometheus
I think that's definitely the spaceship from Alien you see in the clip, and it certainly looks like the pilots chair raising from the floor. *sigh* Teaser trailer is a tease...

 Re: Prometheus
Well, this gotta be better than "Alien Resurrection" and the "Alien VS Predator" movies. But then again, a punch in the balls is better than "Alien Resurrection" and the "Alien VS Predator" movies.

 Re: Prometheus
Cannot wait for this movie. I actually like all of the Alien movies (yes, even 3 and 4); they're a perfect blend of sci-fi and horror. And now Ridley Scott is coming back to clean up the mess that they made with the Predator mash-up! Fans rejoice!

Actually, part 2 was a blend of sci-fi and action.

 Re: Prometheus
I know the Space Jockey has been discussed already, but here's another tantalizing tidbit for ya. I am really excited for this film, but I admit I'm a bit disappointed that they are trying to make it seem like it has nothing to do with the original films (and by OJ I mean 1 and 2 since I pretend anything past that never happened). ~spidey

At this point, I'm personally, 100% convinced this is the prequel it was originally said to be, but that it isn't actually an Alien film, I think it's clear to everyone, the space jockey is in it, and that's probably what it's about in my opinion. In Alien 3's defence, have you seen the directors cut? Because that film was the victim of severe studio meddling, the directors cut is actually a completely different film, it's 100 times better than what was released, I'm not saying it holds a candle to the first two, because it doesn't, but I think it's worth a watch, if you haven't seen it.

 Re: Prometheus
The director's cut is the only reason I still like Alien 3. I can't believe how much was taken out, like there was a whole other act in the middle of the movie that made it unbelievably better.

 Re: Prometheus
Unless they release "Alien 3: The Cut Where Newt and Hicks Don't Die", I'm still hating on "Alien 3".

To be fair, if they at least died onscreen it'd be fine.

 Re: Prometheus
So, I saw this on Saturday, while I wouldn't call it a bad film (and Noomi Rapace & Michael Fassbender were particularly enjoyable), I did find it disappointing and left the cinema feeling very unsatisfied. Without getting into spoilers, 1 thing that really stood out as a negative to me, was how all the designs (architecture & creature) were giger-esque, but never quite as good as HR Gigers designs, now, I understand why they did this, but I found quite a lot of the designs a bit...meh (Giger did provide some Alien murals for the film, but that was the extent of his involvement).
Naturally, it sets itself up for a sequel...
