Full story and Feedback, The First Male Pregnancy!
I'm quite surprised that no one has tackled this topic just yet...the very first male pregnancy, my first impression upon encountering this news was the assumption that it was a movie title, or some kind of 'attention scam' manufactured by our media. I was wrong!
What are your opinions on this?
How differently will the world evolve(or if you don't support evolutionary theory(ies)......
How do you suppose this occurance will change society if the first male pregnancy is a success?
Here's a preview of my "two cents"...
To say the least, we human beings have quite a metamorphoses taking place in the not to distant future if this happens....since the scientific revolution, women have been forced through "proof" to have one important job, childbearing, yes over the years things have changed quite a bit, but think about it, all of those years of frustration over the subject could become obsolete! Years later if this occurance often happens, historians will laugh at all of the conflicts about a 'woman's role in society and in the home".
Also, could there be an answer to allowing gay couples to raise children through this? If a man is capable of having a child, well, doesn't it even further prove it to be a "normal"(which always depends on opinion anyway)event?
In general though, the way women and especially men will be perceived in our society will never be the same....

I don't know what to tink of this - I mean, it definitely isn't natural... and I don't really see the use of it, but if a guy desperately wants a baby, so desperately he's willing to die for it... I don't know...

its quite convincing but unfortunatly just art...
taken from here
It's an elaborate put-on conceived by artists Virgil Wong and Lee Mingwei. Both are members of a collective known as PaperVeins, described as "a multidisciplinary arts group developing work about the human body as seen through medicine, society and technology."
GenoChoice, the nonexistent research firm credited with providing the technical know-how to get Mr. Lee knocked up, was also masterminded by Wong (who, online records show, owns both the malepregnancy.com and genochoice.com domain names). "This is a fictitious web site," reads a disclaimer on the GenoChoice home page, "created to be an exploration of a very likely scenario that may one day result from new advances in biotechnology and infertility treatments."

I figured this would happen eventually. With the constant exploration in some of the most unusual, and often useless medical pursuits, this doesn't surprise me too much. However, it does surprise me that any man would want to be pregnant.
Pretty interesting to see how it was done though.
And of course, I couldn't help but laugh at the sequence of reactions on the main page.
"I am appalled"
"I am thrilled"
"I want to be a pregnant man"
I knew the medical technology would be possible, but the will doesn't make any sense to me.

Markov: read it again. It's not actually happening. It's digital performance art, as Nacht called it.

I'm kind of glad this doesn't exist. Our current population is already unsustainable. We really don't need to destroy any more of the natural controls on breeding.

I thought I saw little signs that the pictures were fake. Anybody ever see the episode of "The Cosby Show" in which Cliff dreamed that all the guys got pregnant? I can't imagine that happening, no matter what medical science comes up with. I mean, come on, where's he going to push it out? It would have to be C-section. :p

At least it was digital artwork. Though in the future, this is a very real possibility, I'm more concerned about the infant of such a pregnancy. If that infant had health problems and disorders, that would start affecting the whole human race.
But the artwork was very interesting though. It almost seemed real for a minute, until it was pointed out it was fake. If that wasn't pointed out, I would have believed it to be real.

Oh wow, and I'm usually the top as far as skeptics, sorry about this everyone...I was thinking about the issue after making this thread and thought, no, not possible, I figured though that somehow it may have been someone who was a former woman or was made to look like a man.
whew...
anyway if it were possible..
There'd have to be an awfull lot of extensive sex-change surgery there, and plenty of hormones. Not a good idea at all, and the "child" would most likely have severe genetic problems.
Thanks a lot comcast for sending me an ad for this in my email

If men could have children, Wouldnt the child HAVE to be a male? Im pretty dusty on my chromosome's but its the 23rd set I believe, and males have XX? females Xy? I may be backwards, and therefor entirely wrong. But males reproducing would only produce male children. Frankly im glad this kind of thing is impossible.
I do think the website was great, I did think it was real until seeing the several posts informing us it was fake. Im too gullible

Yes, I noticed that post after I made mine.
I don't understand why this appears to be on a real hospital website. Unless of course, the whole hospital website is just a fake. Why does it appear so deceptive? The home page looks very legitimate, even the disclaimer says nothing clearly about it being fake.

Hmmm...maybe some artist can make a sculpture of the event and label it 'Chuck Norris giving birth'.
