On May 5, 1945 WWII ended in the Netherlands. The city of Nijmegen was - with the south of the country - liberated earlier (in 1944), but the northern half of the Netherlands was liberated in 1945. In Nijmegen, a photographer of the local photography shop took pictures of soldier of the allied forces that liberated the city and where stationed there in 1944-1945.
A few years ago, those images where donated to the city archive. Who the soldiers are, is not known. In the newspapers yesterday (May 5, 2012) there was attention to this story. Also, the archives asks the public for information about the soldiers. But I think chances of identifying those men will be greater if Americans and Brits (the soldiers are all thought to be from the US and UK) will take a look at them as well.
