I don't know, I love winter, and I love night, so taking a walk during a snowy night is exhilarating. I really love my night classes (when I'm not tired as fuck) because they go from 6 to 10, so at some point it's going to be dark. I actually just like the 30 min. breaks we get because I get to wander around campus looking for snacks. This usually involves going outside. Oh yeah, snow is really nice to walk on, but around where I live, the snow turns to ice really quickly and the route I usually take involves a lot of going up and down hills. It's really scary especially since the roads are terrible, you can't see cars come around until the last second in places too D:

I used to enjoy the night, still do in ways, but then a bunch of craziness happened in my life and I get too exhausted...

I love the night. It's peaceful. I do most of my homework and such during this time because I can concentrate the most. Plus, there isn't anyone around to bother you. Interestingly enough though, I have a tendency to meet the nicest people at night.

Re: Feeling at home during the night
I checked 'nighttime is for sleeping,' but that's mostly my lifestyle / work routine at the moment. By the time late evening hits, I couldn't stay awake if I wanted to (my friends have tried keeping me awake by poking me, I think just for amusement. There comes a point where I nod off and just swat them away in my sleep... ) I found when I was working nights, or the dreaded on-calls working through one day, the night, then the next day, I was more awake during the night, and dopey in the daytime. If I have a week or two off, I get progressively more nocturnal. I don't feel entirely safe walking through town at night, but sitting in the garden with a glass of wine and a couple of candles is a lovely way to spend an evening.

I feel at peace in the night. I do my errands (well, as most of them as I can. ) in the night. Cleaning, shopping, all that jazz. I personally can't stand daytime. So I feel better when it's dark.

Re: Feeling at home during the night
I love the nighttime, especially when it is a cool clear night. I'm a keen astronomer and take pleasure in admiring the splendor of the night sky. I would love to be nocturnal as I stay up as late as I can at the first opportunity, but alas I have too many commitments during the day.

Re: Feeling at home during the night
Night is the best time of the day... if that makes sense. I feel more alive at night than I do during the day. Another perk of night is the darkness, and lack of the big-yellow-hurty-thingy (aka the sun). Sure, I have to sleep during the night, but I'm more tired in the day than I am at night- starting to think I'm nocturnal.

Night is best for me -- especially after midnight. I like that time best of all because there are way fewer people around. The roads are practically empty of traffic, supermarkets have clear aisles, the neighborhood is quiet. Less people = a breath of serenity.

Re: Feeling at home during the night
WELL..... My life up until 2010 was always night-oriented. I didn't necessarily want it to be, it just was. I even had some night-shift jobs....but oddly, I didn't really like them. Seems I like to be up at night but not necessarily doing anything. I never could figure out a way to get paid for that. But, due to some pretty huge life-changes, I ended up with this satellite technician job in 2010, and my start time was >gasp< 6:00 AM. That's since moved to 7:00 AM, which is still a pretty big shift in bio-chemistry. It is nice, though, to listen to Sunday Baroque and have coffee and toast in the early morning hours on a day off. And then go back to bed. So, I get tired at a time I don't want to get tired, and I've become a daytime goth hiding in shadows when possible....which is pretty hard when most of our work is outside. As Sgath once put it, "But the Sun's out there!." All of you...please stay up until at least 3:00 AM this weekend in my memory....

Lachrymose wrote: As Sgath once put it, "But the Sun's out there!." No kidding: I had to move up to the spf100 this year in February. February! That's just not right. Anyone else avoid fishnets during the daylight hours of the summer so its easier to put sunblock on? I find I either avoid them so its easier to keep putting it on, or I just wear longer skirts so I don't have to worry about reapplying sunblock. When I am left to my own devices & can wake up later in the day I don't have to worry about it [as often].

Yes, because if I forget to use sunblock when wearing fishnets, I get a really weird tan pattern. I just wear a really long, filmy black skirt, so it's cool and I don't have to reapply sunblock. Somebody posted in a different thread about switching to sunblock SFPVampire, and I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. I'll have to get me some of that!
