I've done a lot of thinking on this and I am curious. I have my own ideas but what do you consider the best Goth hairstyle and colour? I know I would lean black for color but raven red is another and perhaps a sultry blonde? What kinds of hairstyles do you find uniquely Goth? We are such a diverse community with so many bright and creative minds - I want to find out what you think!

When I think 'Goth' I instantly think of long black hair... and then I think of vibrant unnatural colours, like fire engine red, bright purple and electric blue, and then dread falls and death hawks and amazing styles like that

I like the idea of a death hawk with the outer layer dyed a neon color! You could part your hair down the middle for work and tuck the colored part under and go almost completely incognito for work!

While my hair doesn't style for anything, I think either long straight dark hair or a death hawk that's black or a blue black. I do appreciate several of the other styles though, such as the cybergoth dreadlocks look (not for me, but I love the colors).

Long and black or some unnatural colour. Or the cyber dreads are cool, too. But they're expensive and hard to maintain. The 80's goth hair is classic, too. I love the big crazy teased hair with crimped bangs and beads and random streaks of colour! What a mess to detangle!!

Have you seen Gypsy 83? There are some good ideas.

I have long black and cherry red hair. It reaches down to my butt. I do the dye jobs myself and its kind of annoying to have to deal with, but I love how it looks. It is more of a classic look?

I LOVE Siouxsie's hair. She's gotta be one of my style icons that I'd somewhat base my style around more if I was living by myself.

Either I'd go all teased-out with my hair or grow it long and natural as the light brown it was meant to be. I'd pair that with some velvet and silk ruffly shirts for a fun and oh so *tragic* romantic vampire look.

I don't know why but I picture long, ash-blonde hair parted down the middle for girls. For guys I imagine long blonde hair, too, but it's darker blonde.

Weird, I know.

As a goth/metalhead/rivethead, I suppose long hair is universally acceptable for each subculture.
Of course, I also prefer to dye it black, take a waffle iron to it, and layer it with bangs in the front, 80s style.

I've always tended to view goth fashion as being best if there's an 80s element to the look.
Nivek Ogre of Skinny Puppy has always had the ideal "gothic hairstyle" in my book.

One of my favourite looks for gents hair, and some more from the three in front. And my hair's always been straight as a pin, so I also confess to a bit of a weakness for long, black and curly (and in case you were curious and unaware, Army of Lovers is pretty far from "goth", in genre, but they're addictive bouncy queer disco-pop from Sweden --you will dance for hours, even if only in your chair, and they've written plenty of ear-worms; also, their videos are like these little short camp-surrealist films).

It looks pretty awesome if you just get it long and in a general upward direction with it all coming down some where around the back but it looks ok really long and fringe over eye(but still really long) with a few realy bright streaks of red, green or purple. Curly hair( like mine) is shit for the gothic image. any suggestions of what I could do with it?

I like girls with curled hair. A goth girl with curled black and blonde hair looks great. I would honestly like a goth girl with well managed blonde hair with black ends.
