Googling "punk rave" brought up loli & amine style clothing. In fact the first hit was a Czech clothing site!

I personally don't care for the Lolita style as much as the Victorian clothing. I dislike corsets though.

Ummmm, wa-lolita???
As far as dressing in Asian dress, so long as one is respectful toward the culture that they their outfit is influenced from, it's fine, although I'm not the ambassador of this so, :P (a lesson from a panel from the World Steam Expo on multiculturalism).
(You are talking about traditional dress, right? Kinda vague first paragraph.)

I like the idea of saris in the summertime myself. Anything drapy and light cotton. Sadly they'd stand out a little around here and there's that "cultural appropriation" thing. Loli/ egl and anime styles are good too.
FairyInBoots: well it's the truth.

Yes, just Bing-ing punk rave should bring up the results I'm talking about. If it's called Lolita than yes. Although I never considered it anime regardless of it being from asia.
I think the stuff is great because the unisex clothing fits me very well, especially since I'm under a male small in most clothing and most male goth clothing from other sellers seem to be tailored more for, well, boxy men.

I guess I haven't seen any asian black metal bands though. I do like the doll look on girls. I think it looks attractive. What arm warmers you have?

Re: Anyone like the asian style goth clothing?
Considering the Asian goth look is largely based on "cuteness" instead of "darkness", it tends to look better on the girls. Androgyny is big here, but it's more of a flamboyant/cutesy/drag queen sort of androgyny that I've never really been into. Whenever I go unisex, I prefer to look like the "genderless demon from the abyss" rather than the "frilly doll clown from the circus"

Re: Anyone like the asian style goth clothing?
^^ "frilly doll clown from the circus"! It's funny because that's what I think of when I see the men's "goth" clothes in Japan. The only "asian style goth clothing" I really know about is Japanese. And as far as that goes, I think it looks nice, depending on the individual wearing the clothes. Some people have better fashion sense than others. The same thing goes for "British/American goth clothing"; some outfits are nice, some aren't, depending what that person is wearing. I actually used to dress lolita in the beginning of high school (classic lolita, not sweet or gothic), and I would from time to time if I had the clothing. One thing I hate, though, is when people call "gothic lolita" a variation of goth clothing, which it's not. It was inspired by french maids' uniforms, and is not dark at all.

Whenever I go unisex, I prefer to look like the "genderless demon from the abyss" rather than the "frilly doll clown from the circus" I just don't like the baggy Tripp™ pants look. By that I mean the baggyness that is not always present in the Japan style. Of course there are variations to both fashions. If you're thin, I view it as a waste to wear baggy clothing or clothing that doesn't conform properly. I excercise extenssively everyday. I'm a very thin guy and I wear clothing that fits me very well. Most, if not all male clothing for the euro goth style is unfitting to me due to their sizes and layouts. My chest measurement is 34, waist is 28, and my hip measures 35.5. I'm a mesomorphic hourglass shape. If I were to wear a straight up male goth shirt without pin adjustments I'd look like I have a rectangle body type. If you're thin why try to look boxy!? I like both styles and I, in fact, wear tons of different crazy stuff. I tend to lean toward the clothing that fits me better. Perhaps I'm researching fashion too much. ittybittybat wrote: ^^ "frilly doll clown from the circus"! It's funny because that's what I think of when I see the men's "goth" clothes in Japan. Yes, I never paid attention to what's goth and what's not. I prefer to debate it from a psychological point of view rather than the common black and white debates that people seem to try to use to explain what fits the genre and what doesn't. There is so much more to the sub-culture and life than to argue in such a way. But, that's the sub-culture. I'm intereted mainly in fashion and how the clothing looks on me. For example, I'd rather the clothing looks good and fits me well rather than the idea that I am projecting the culture accurately.

Of course, if you were in Tokyo, I'd be genuinely surprised.

Re: Anyone like the asian style goth clothing?
I have the same feelings about it as I do with the American: some look good, some don`t, depending on what the individual person is doing with it. I have a personal thing for asians (specifically the orientals like Japan, China, etc) so I find it especially curious.
