Post What is your recent fashion addiction?
We have food addictions, music that drills into our ears, and video games that cause sleep deprivation. Most of us have a central motif or a specific style that we have in our wardrobe, but at the moment, do you have any specific fashion addictions, specific articles of clothing that you find yourself wearing damn near everyday?

Since the beginning of the year, I've been fawning over mini skirts, which is odd since I've never been very fond of them until recently (probably because I feel a bit self concious wearing them, but I've been over coming this by 1) wearing them with the right company and 2) wearing them in the right combo). This month I've so far bought three: all frilly, lacy, and poofy. And it sucks, because it's the dead of winter and I can't wear them outside (I mean, I can if I don't mind freezing my ass off and sending the wrong message to passer-byers) so I have to wear them around mi casa for now.

To come over my self-conciousness brings me to my next obsessions: tall boots and stocking. Stripped stockings to be specific.

My current addiction is a bright orange jacket that I bought. It goes oddly well with all the black in my wardrobe, and as one of my friend pointed out, makes Halloween feel a little closer. :P

This, of course, and a rose pendant that I bought from one of the Michael's stores not too long ago. It's a black rose bud that I put on a cord, and it goes with every single outfit that I own. What brilliantly triples its perfection? The fact that I got it for three bucks, and it's seen enough use to be worth well over that to me.

Also, pearls. They've always been my addiction, but I took it to the extreme two sundays back at my Sweet Sixteen. I wore six strands over a black lace bodice and petticoat enhanced off white circle skirt. Just for the occasion, I was able to score a few more strands from my mother, and I also got another pair of pearl earrings. Needless to say, I'll be covered pearl-wise for the next few years. It's a good thing that they also go with next to everything in my closet.

Tall boots are definitely I can't get enough of. Which can be problematic in Texas, since it's usually too hot to wear them. But in winter, I wear them with short skirts and knitted tights.

Scarves are something else that don't work well in the heat, but if it's cool enough, I'll be wearing a scarf of some kind. Even one that's just skinny and does nothing but hang like an accessory.

I am currently obsessed with wearing my heavy-weight black skirt. I feel short of naked if I go out wearing anything else... maybe as it's my longest skirt, or the skirt I feel the most comfy in... it could be the fact that it seems to resist everything that I throw at it (cat fur just brushes off of it, liquids run off of it without staining, ditto for food, it never needs ironing and dries after washing, in a matter of hours).

It was one of the last things that I remember my late grandmother making for me (she was a professional seamstress) - it was made for attending my paternal grandfather's funeral, so it's officially a mourning skirt... how perfect can an item of clothing be?! ;)

Long skirts and skirts to the knee...I used to hate them; they felt old ladyish. I only wore short skirts until recently, but now I can't get enough of mid-length black skirts, especially my poofy ones. (This is of course only a recent addiction, fashion in general is my addiction. I have a huge collection of gothy boots and I always want more, same with corsets and bustles.) I would love to be addicted to my velvet blazer again, but it ripped irreparably and I can't find a replacement. *sob*

It's funny how our preferences are the exact opposite. ^_^

Mine has been pajama pants. All the time. I'm just sick of wearing jeans to school. I guess I just need a new pair. I'm always checking out PJ pants with neat designs on them. I've been finding some with binary code on them and circuit patterns and I'm flipping out.
I also like Airwalk sneakers. I always get a black pair of them and draw on the rubber fronts. They're like fashionable canvases.
Oh, and zip hoodies. I always get excited finding some that are black and simple or other colors (that go well together: black, yellow, and red) that are at a reasonable price and size. But those are hard to find.

That, and I'm not really sure if this counts as fashion, but since I hate my bland brown hair, I always try to get black hair dye.

My fashion obsession is crosses. I am almost always wearing a cross (not a little dinky confirmation-cross, but a big honkin' gothy cross...the more ornate, the better). Even though I'm a non-practicing Catholic, crosses remind me of cathedrals, plaster statues of tortured saints, pipe organ music, incense...all things that I love.

Hrm, not so much recent, but...

- Corset tops. I can't afford the real thing. The ones at Adult Shops are cheap enough, but never fit right, so I'd have to get one custom-made, which runs up to $200-$300. I would sew one, but I don't even know how to use my sewing machine as is, and I'm not sure it's heavy-duty enough to make a corset. At least a corset top will fit fine, is relatively low-maintenance, and looks nice.

- Long skirts. I have a couple minis I really like, but I am much too self-conscious to wear them, unless I'm out with someone I'm in a relationship with. I wouldn't be able to wear one just going out in a group of friends, and definitely not by myself. Long skirts, however, I love them. They go well with corset tops, blouses, and heck, I've even thrown one on with a baggy-ish (casual fit?) tee shirt, and it's looked fine.

- Lace and Fishnet. I know, staple item for most Goths, really. I like wearing fingerless gloves, whole shirts, whatever, in either fabric, either casually or more semi-formal. It works. I also have a lace parasol, and fan.

- Jewerly, and Silver. My jewelry is all in Silver or Black. Although, on the odd occasion, I'll wear some spikes and chains (though, I do have a chain on my wallet for casual wear). I do, however, have this nice leather choker in purple thats made to look like barbed wire I sometimes wear semi-formally.

- Pyjama pants. Haha, and comfy pants. I spend alot of time around the house, so I'll usually be either wearing plain black, or some funky pattern. Right now, I'm wearing PJ pants with something that looks like Leatherface, sort of, on them. Got them for Christmas. I also have a pair with Skulls n' Guitars, and a pair with Casper.

- Hoodies. Especially zip-up hoodies. Like R/A, I like plain black hoodies. I also like some designs though. Like, the one I have on is one of those half-skeletal ones. And I have a Jack Skellington one. But I have a couple awesome non-zip hoodies too.

Hrm, thats all I can think of for now. Though, some of these are impractical for everyday. Usually, for casually stepping out for coffee, I wear jeans, a tee shirt, a hoodie, and for the cold weather, my 3/4 length wool jacket, my Bat Hat, and my purple n' black striped scarf.

I've been dying for a black zip-up hoodie. I already have two, but they're both fitted, and I'd like a bigger, saggy one. I think they look pretty damn sexy if you wear a tank or tube top underneath.

My biker style leather jacket. I've not had one for a while and putting this new (second hand and a bit battered actually :D ) one on - it felt like I was back home. Ahhhhh.

Post Re: What is your recent fashion addiction?
Hi

I'm currently addicted to Art Deco/ period style dangly earrings and necklaces from a company called 1928- in the heamatite shade of metal.

I have recently removed all my piercings (10 in each ear, nose,2 belly ones and 2 eyebrows- I kept the 'personal ones - tongue, nips and bits) so I can finally wear ornate earrings again- yay!

To digress slightly I also just (after 18 years!) stripped the permamant black out of my bobbed hair and gone back to my natural Dark Ash brown. I've also chucked any unnaturally coloured make-up in favour of pinks and pink-beiges plus plums and smokey colours (and the hair falls are in the loft fo now too)

I just had a colour analysis done by Colour me Beautiful (I always wanted it done!)and my ntaural colouring came as as 'Clear Winter' which is typified by Snow White. My next addiction will be to get some more colours into my wardrobe (apart from black, white, charcoal, red, royal blue and purple and deep pink)- she suggested peppermint and teal to start with...

I needed a change and am gonna be selling loads of stuff on ebay in the next month or two- cybergoth, Victorian Goth and Steam punk stuff. (my user ID is the same as this one) .

I'm getting more into 20's-40's vintage stuff but in a 'beautiful gothic' sense.

Naw that's color enough. :P

I've also been quite attached to chandelier earring, not quite the style you're talking about, but close. They're the gunmetal disk chandelier styled-earrings... Maybe I'll post a pic later. :/

I've also been up and ons about stuff with roses on them. They're very elegant, as we all know. I bought an antique silver rose ring on sale about two weeks ago, and there was another fancier styled rose ring - only black, which makes it better. So I think I'm going to get that when I get off of school tomorrow, as well as some more rose stud earrings (even though I already have a pair, it'd be cute to have some in red).
