 Your second country of choice
Imagine you are about to be born again and you can choose your country (other than the previous one). What country would it be?
I'd definitely choose Greece. The weather is nice. The landscape is beautiful. The people are christian orthodox like me, they are a Thracian branch just like me, olive oil is great for my skin, Greek girls are beautiful, and I like their culture and way of living. I traveled three times to Greece and I plan to do it again in the future. Other than that, I guess I would chose Russia.
What country would you choose to be born in, or to move to?

New Zealand. Why? Because of it's natural beauty. Also I hear the ppl of NZ, the Kiwis, are extremely nice, polite, good mannered ppl.

Japan, but not in the country. They are still very traditional about foreigners and everything else here. Even though if I was "born" in Japan I would be Japanese huh. But I love diversity, and you see more of that in the major cities. So, I would choose Osaka. Everytime I go there, I make new friends, find new wonderful places, and it's just always so much fun. It's also closer to Kyoto, another beautiful city with temples and shrines.

Norway or UK (where I live now) - well developed countries, interesting history and culture. Far better than one I was born in.

It depends on the clubs I think. I need at least half a dozend gothic parties per month in a radius of 30 miles. When I was young I was dreaming about the USA.

I'd choose the UK. I love history, and living where there's so much of it would thrill me to no end. Plus, I adore castles, cathedrals, and ruins, and there seems to be a lot of them there.

Re: Your second country of choice
I love Russia, but... Realistically, I wouldn't want to be born there. I'd love to BE Russian, to speak Russian and to live there - but, at the same time, I wouldn't give up all the opportunities that the citizenship of a more developed country gives you.
So, I won't be much original and say - the UK. I've lived here for the past almost 5 months now, and I love the country and the people. There's really too much of it for me to tell everything I like about the place, but I admit I love it to pieces.
After meeting a few people from New Zealand I admit I wonder about that place as well, but I can't really say, as I've never been there.
Funnily, only a few years ago I dreamt about the USA - but not anymore.

Re: Your second country of choice
Good question, and over the years I've thought of many countries that would fit the bill. Germany, the USA (Louisiana or San Francisco), Wales, Finland, Russia... but my current favourite is Romania, especially Transylvania.
Back in the real world I'm happy with England and can't see me leaving (I don't even have a passport). As LegendGirl said we do have some beautiful places here... I just wish I could afford to go and see some (although one day I will get to Highgate Cemetery!!)

Re: Your second country of choice
You know, it's funny about Japan.... I had this fantasy image about the place until I started living and working here. Japanese people are a very pretty people, both in natural beauty and in the great extents they go to take care of their appearance, but the society itself is one of the most conservative, group minded, xenophobic, workaholic, and restrictive in the first world class of nations. I live here, and have experienced it's charms, but the work life and political ways of thinking are not for me......
Maybe I would choose to be reborn an attractive Japanese female for physical beauty alone, but as for location and culture, it's a toss up between Sweden and Mongolia. Mongolia for it's natural beauty and Sweden for it's liberal culture and charming Nordic history.

My head is spinning , I only heard about the Highgate Cemetery in relation to the reported vampire haunting and that priest who thinks he is a real life Van Helsing. I never seen photos of it until now, the place looks really fabulous.

Re: Your second country of choice
Someone thinks they're a real life Van Helsing? Oh dear There are many famous people buried at Highgate: Karl Marx, Christina Rossetti and George Eliot to name but a few. This link has more details.

Re: Your second country of choice
I can't imagine living anywhere else, but if I did it would defiantly be another commonwealth country... Probably New Zealand or UK itself.... Rather then leaving Canada I've often thought about living in another part of it, like the far north (for a short time) or more realistically the east coast. Halifax most likely... beautiful city... Nice thing about a country this large, multi-cultural and diverse... You can experience an entirely different culture, climate, history or people without crossing a border... it's a big chunk of land
