Does Patti Smith "Easter Sunday" count?
What am I saying, Patti Smith always counts.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
Was at mass this morning. Seemed about the same as any other mas except it was standing room only. C & e Catholics, so annoying. (Christmas and Easter, the only times they show up. ) Sorry I haven't been around too much guys, busy with life and my new pursuit, looking into taking up magical work of some sort. Trying to pick something that fits me but the amount of information I have to assimilate seems so overwhelming.wish me luck.

I believe that as long as you keep the door open, the magick comes to you. Pantheons of gods shall *eventually* present themselves with their equivalent of a PowerPoint presentation of why you should venerate them. These times we live in now, are nothing like the world of the past. I believe that *partially* a god's power comes from how much people believe in them. I believe there's a Miranda Richardson + Samm Neil movie called Merlin where at one point the Goddess of the Light (or whatever she was called) basically confronts Queen Mabb, a sort of "Lady Morgana" type about the decline of the "Old Ways." The powers of both women, of both forces were waning as the rise of Christianity, and to a lesser extent secularism came. Old Zeus is still at the top of Olympus; Odin still sits on his throne. The gods and spirits of the Native Americans still exist - but perhaps their "strength" isn't as vast these days because people again, stopped believing. I believe many of the spirits named and sealed in sigil in the Goetia are just divinities from faiths that pre-date Christianity. Example I shall give is - Astaroth. If one goes back far enough, this demon with the poison breath is in some circles deemed the goddess Astarte in actuality.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
I saw that link on Facebook Fairy. Twas amusing. Hmm, may be getting an x-ray tomorrow on my upper left leg. Darn thing is still bothering me and I have no idea why. >.< No falls or anything. Part of me doesn't want it to be anything but the other part of me doesn't want to be wasting the hospital's time. *sigh* I can't really tell if it's in my bone or muscle. I also have an appointment with my psychiatrist tomorrow. My tremor is back in my hands again. May have to go off Abilify and find something else. Other than that things are going okay. Trying to do some reading. Oh and it's my cat's birthday today, she's 13 years old. My little Bastet is a teenager now!

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
Also sending well wishes your way, Dragonwings I'm going to ask LS if we could have the Benny Hill theme played at our wedding reception. Maybe someone could dress in a gorilla suit and chase us across the room! Something like this-- Mon Apr 09, 2012 6:45 pm -- Or have a Dalek chase us across the dance floor?

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
Sorry I've been missing from here lately. Been busy with school stuff. In new news: I have a kitty! I just got him earlier today. He's a British Bombay by the looks of things and super super friendly (however he's been hiding under my bed all day, so still very afraid of being in a new place). His original name was Logan, but I've decided to rename him to Peter (yes, after the delightful Peter Murphy whom I adore). Now, if I can get myself to stop trying to play with said kitty, I have an essay to write due tomorrow and sadly it won't write itself!

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
Yesterday 72 years have passed since the nazis came to Denmark. This year it's also 70 years ago my father and his family was sent to a concentration camp. He and his sister came back, the others died there. I sometimes forget how old my father was. I never saw him as old, even though he had wrinkles, grey hair and hands that trembled when he ate. My father would never get old and die, because my father could beat all the other kids fathers, and in my eyes, Daddy was immortal. I once asked him what it was like being there, at the concentration camp, and I will never forget how he just went silent. I was just a little kid, and I didn't fully understand what kind of horrible things happened at those places. I sometimes wonder what happened to him, and how he managed to survive. What he felt and thought, and if he ever looked back at that time. Thinking back, his silence told a lot more than words ever could. I wished I knew more about his past. I think the thing about him I remember the most was his tattoos. He had a star of David on his arm, a heart on his shoulder with his mothers name underneath it, and three dots on his left hand. He also had a pinup girl on his back. They were all faded to a greenish colour. He said they used to be black a long time ago. He also always had really dirty fingernails, because he worked outside in the garden all day after he became too frail to work at the factory . We had the nicest garden in the whole village.
My father died november 8th 2010. I never got to say goodbye to him, and I don't even know where his grave is. I know which cemetary he's in, but his grave has no gravestone. Nothing. Not even a little plate with his name. I'd love to visit him, maybe bring some nice flowers (he loved lilies), and just sit there for a while.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
I was going to post a whine about having to be up early, but in context it would be kind of trivial. Holy crap.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
I think at least some of us, like moi need to step back a little bit and examine our lives.
I'm sorry you never got to say 'goodbye', Alice

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
Whoa, Alice, I don't quite know what to say. I'm sorry for all that your father, his family and you had - and still have - to go through. And it makes me sad that you could not say 'goodbye' to your father.
(On a practical note, though, have you ever asked the staff of the cemetary the location of your father's grave? They probably have records of those and might be able to help you. After all, it's quire natural that you want to visit your father's grave.)
