Does it hurt really bad to get a nipple piercing ? I've always wondered, cause it's a sensitive area and all.

To me it was the two worst, most pain fucking piercings I've ever gotten. Hell I got my lower parts done (no need to specify exactly which lower parts I'm talking about is there?) and that didn't hurt, which shocked me because I was told it was enormously painful. I didn't feel it at all.

But Oh My Goth! When that needle went through my nipple I cursed. Loudly. Only piercings I ever cursed or cried out. The fucked up thing is that the second nipple hurt worse than the first one. They said it was normal. The same happened with my husband.

The worst part for me was the healing. Don't get me wrong, the instant pain was a bitch in and of itself, but the healing was awful. For the first few days anything that touched my nipples hurt, yet to not wear a bra hurt as well, so it was a rock and hard place. My breasts were very tender for a few weeks after and they did not properly heal until about a year and a half later (that is just my body though- my husband's healed right away).

My husband had trouble for the first few day with anything, even a shirt, touching his nipples. He actually walked bent over for the first couple hours after because his cotton shirt was just too painful against the piercings. I hear it hurts most with men (surprisingly) and I know a couple guys who were only able to get one done because it hurt so badly that they could not go through with it. After a week, he was completely fine.

All I can say really I guess is that it hurt. Like fucking hell it hurt. I won't lie to you. It may not hurt some people but it hurt me, my husband and everyone I know who has had them done. If they come out- I'd probably not endure the pain of getting them redone. Give me implants over nipple piercings, seriously.

However, if you can endure the pain (and it MIGHT NOT be that bad for you) and you want it done, then do it. Don't let the pain denture you from what you want. It will hurt. It will heal, and it will look fucking awesome afterwards. They may have hurt me the most, but my nipple piercings are also among my most loved.

Post Re: Name your piercings
How many do you have?
5½ currently, but I've had 11 total, over the years

Where and what are they?
Left nostril, Beauty mark (upper lip, right side), 1½ in the left ear, two in the right ear (I've also had snakebites, navel, and foreskin, all closed, I've had two others in the earlobes, which are all but closed, the "half" in my left ear was ripped out in a bar fight when I was sixteen, and I had my left nipple pierced, but lost that due to reconstructive surgery)

What piercing(s) do you wish to have?
I have a piercer who's confident that he can pierce my nipple graft, and I'm also hoping to get my junk re-piuerced, and I'd really like my right eyebrow done, and I kind of have an "ear project" for my right ear in my head, but anything after the nipple is on the back-burner until I get an ill-thought-out home-tattoo on my left wrist covered up.

Are any of them stretched? / If so what g?
The main one in my right ear was stretched out to 00 for a few months, but I decided I didn't like how it looked with just the plug, and couldn't afford any of the things I wanted to put in, so I let it shrink back up. It's not completely reverted back after 7-8 years, I can probably slip a 4g plug in with no problem, but I'd rather not.

I didn't have any problems with mine. I turned white (according to my sister) but I was laughing the entire time! It felt like a bite. That's it. Even when the guy did "down there" (yes, I got it all done at the same time). I don't feel much physical pain anymore. :/

The healing process was easy and pain free. No bleeding, no crusting, no sensitivity. I love how they look! I have D-Rings in my nipples, circular captive rings got caught on everything and barbells didn't look as good. What do you use?

Is it alright to talk about genital piercings here or would that be a "no-no" since we have minors?

Hopeless- I'm glad the nipple piercings went well for you! Mine were a bitch (obviously). I had 5 piercings done that session.

I'm definitely thinking about getting my nipples pierced, next. The pain is not a deterrent for me.

Oops, forgot to add mine!

1 navel

1 septum

2 tragus

3 lobe piercings in each ear

I also want to get two piercings in the top of each ear.

Did anyone have a hard time with cartilage piercings?

As a side sleeper, I found it very difficult and ending up having to take them out just to get some sleep. Getting them redone lower on the ear made sleeping a lot easier.

I have plans for a cartilidge piercing or two, and I'm hoping I'll have an easier time due to being used to accidentally falling asleep on my glasses with alarming frequency.

I've got one towards the top of my left pinna. It's something I half-regret to this day, as it's totally fucked up my sleep.

I have four... my earlobes done, twice.

That's it - and although I'd love to get my labret done, and a couple of tattoos I'm scared witless of needles so I can't ever see it happening (I'm a total chicken). The ear piercings were done with guns that fired the earrings into my ears, otherwise I doubt I would even have them (bottom holes when I was about 7 or 8 and the second set when I was about 20, I had them done for a dare with my Mum who also has them done  ).

I do that a lot too. I'm afraid i'll break them one of these days. :/

As for failed piercings, did anybody's get a dark spot where the piercing used to be? I have to black spots on the upper ears now and where the eyebrow was done. People have asked if they were tattoos.

It's probably just scar tissue.

The labret is technically the jewellery worn in a lip piercing. It's pronounced "la-bret", not "la-brey", as it's a relative neologism derived from the Latin labrum, meaning "lip" (not a loan-word from French, as is commonly believed), and with the diminutive "-et" added on in a similar fashion to "bracelet".

...though the word "bracelet" is derived from the Greek "brachile", and the "-et" suffix does come from French, so linguistically, "labret" makes more sense than "bracelet".

While colloquially, the "labret piercing" is often referring to specifically a centreline lower-lip piercing, just above the chin, many piercers (including mine, who's one of the best in the state, and whose shop has won regional awards) will refer to any lip-piercing as a "labret piercing", though some variations will still be referred to by specific names --like "snakebites" (two symmetrical, bottom lip piercings, each resting just below the eye teeth), or the beauty mark.

No-one has ever had their labret pierced; but many have had a labret placed in a lip piercing.

Yep, it's scar tissue. I've never had a piercing genuinely fail on me, but I lost my snakebites in a mosh during one of the five punk bands on my 23rd birthday (it wasn't my fault in the slightest --see, my friends kept buying me Wild Turkey, and it would have been rude to refuse....); most likely one of the last three bands, cos that's when events started to blur together, and next thing I know, I've got a cute li'l barely-legal drummer boy on me. *coughs* So, er... yes, I've had a couple spots heal up a little darker, but it was cloe up on my lip, so no-one ever really noticed. No, what people notice is the letter-Y on my forehead, which is twenty-five-years-old this September, from when I was in first grade and some kid pushed me in the auditorium during PE, splitting the skin on the edge of the stage. I didn't need stitches, but she pushed me hard enough to cut my forehead up good. A few days later was Picture Day, and there I was with a giant bandage of paper-tape and gauze on my face.

How many do you have?
13

Where are they(if you wish to tell)?
5 in each ear lobe (I only wear rings in two. I need to get new stuff), right tragus and left nostril.

Also what are they?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

What piercing(s) do you wish to have?
Other tragus, cartilage, bellybutton, tongue (but I'm afraid that might fuck up my voice)

Are any of them stretched?
unintentionally stretched one of my ear piercings before... my towel got caught on it. not fun.

My work won't allow me to have any visible piercings (other than my ears, I guess) so nothing that catches the eye here...

I have 2 nipple piercings, all barbells. My current ones are shaped like stylized stirrups. I guess I like the extra kinky look...

I have six piercings, all on my ear. Four are normal piercings, two are gauged (my middle piercings. Trying to get them to 8 gauge). I'm progressively moving up my ear.

Other than the ears, I would like to get a lip ring and a septum. But, I'm not much of a needle fan. Meh.
