 The Sports Thread! :)
Titled per Nephele's suggestion. This is the thread to discuss all things sports. Basketball, rugby, football, baseball, that other "football", lacrosse, tournaments, whatever. Hell, even if you want to vent about the London Olympics being overplayed and overhyped. All sports subjects are welcome here! And with that being said... It's over a month away, but I'm excited about the Olympics. The EuroCup is just making me want to Olympics to hurry up and get here, for some reason.

 Re: The Sports Thread! :)
Regarding the Olympics, I am looking forward to watching Katie Taylor fight, and when ( )she brings home, what will probably be the countries only gold medal this year, I hope it goes some way to destroying the various gender stereotyping in sports that have been heavily discussed since she qualified.

Oh, I've never heard of her before, and I never watch the fights in the Olympics, but I might this year. Unless it's on at the same time as the soccer matches.

She might be playing in those too. I can't remember if she is or not. She's represented us at international levels in both sports.

I watch a lot of football. I am a Alabama Crimson Tide and a New Orleans Saints fan. I also watch NASCAR and Golf. What can I say? I'm from Alabama.

They watch golf in Alabama?! Mobile has several beautiful courses. When were not screwing cousins or persecuting blacks, Muslims, and gays we go for a few rounds of golf. Also it helps us get away from those book learning liberals. We are quite cultured, you know?

Ireland didn't qualify for the football this year, the teams are Cameroon, South Africa, Japan, Korea DPR, France, Great Britain, Sweden, Canada, USA, New Zealand, Brazil and Columbia. Given our performance in Euro 2012 it's hardly surprising

 Re: The Sports Thread! :)
^^Dude, I watched the Ireland/Spain game and I expected Ireland to lose (Spain did win the World Cup last time), but not that badly. I actually wanted them to win, but the players didn't seem to have a plan for what to do when someone actually got the ball.
Right now I'll be happy if Poland or Denmark places (which they probably won't), or Germany.

 Re: The Sports Thread! :)
So, England are out of the Euros and lost on penalties to Italy, (who I was silently hoping would win, I'm a quarter Italian and a big Lacuna Coil fan.) But England actually looked like they knew what they were doing for a change, and looked like they had half a chance of winning, and I actually felt bad they didn't. Angela Gossow's boys (Germany) knocked out Greece, which I didn't feel bad about. But I hope Italy beat the Germans, come on Italy!

 Re: The Sports Thread! :)
^^I was thinking the same thing! Because the last few times I saw England, they sucked.
And I want Germany to win so bad! Partially because way back on my dad's side is some German (hey, I'm American; anything European, especially on an African-American is going to be wayyy back there in ancestry) and mostly because I started learning German.
Plus I don't really care for Italy or Spain. If the final is between them, I don't care who wins.

 Re: The Sports Thread! :)
New manager, which explains a bit.
I've got family in Germany and Greece, it's because of Angela Gossow I wanted Germany to win, (I make music based-choices about who I support quite a lot.)
Aww. Oh well.

I would watch the Olympics just to see this guy kick ass in the running competitions... With no legs. Oscar Pistorius -- The Blade Runner-- Nephele
