You could be right. After all, "Violator" sounds like a sex toy, too.

Okay. Avenged Sevenfold's Nightmare album didn't really appeal to me as much as the others. I don't know why, the solo's were good, the lyrics were good, but there was no...chemistry with the music, I suppose.

It was already said but, The Greater Wrong of the Right - Skinny Puppy
I don't think it's "horrible" but it's definitely not the same as anything they did 1995 and back. I just don't think they will ever have the same sound as they did, without Goettel.

With regards to The Unforgiving, who are you and what have you done with the real Within Temptation? The entire album makes me think of Eurovision. (I am now dreading Evanescence's next album, the fear of another album that sounds nothing like what went before is upon me.)

I haven't heard The Unforgiving, certainly don't want to now. :P Eurovision, no way.

Not "horrible", but definitely disappointing was Portishead's "Third". I adore their first two albums and I suppose it was to be expected that after such a long hiatus they would manifest an altered sound... Not a "bad" album, there's some solid tracks, but a far cry from the brilliant jazzy bleakness of their first two efforts!

Hah, I'm listening to their self-titled right now xD. Yeah I don't care too much for Third either. Cowboys has and always will be one of my favorite songs from them. There's just so much mystique in it, best listened to at night when walking through the city.

Couldn't have said it better, brother.

There's always been something about Sopor Aeternus' 'Todeswunsch' that turns me off.
A little too folkloric. Or maybe it's because I don't speak german?

It is a gorgeous language! You should learn it if you get the chance. I pick up a few things here and there because I listen to a few German bands and I hate not knowing what the lyrics are saying.

Fallen by Fields of the Nephilim. After hearing their early albums and then being introduced to that pile of gargabe, it just left a bad taste in my mouth. I can appreciate trying to stay relevant to whatever genre dominates the scene at the time (back when it was released, industrial metal was the "big thing"), but changing the sound completely from what you're used to never ends well. I didnt work for Love & Rockets in the early 90's and it certaintly didnt work for FotN.

Anything after Devils by The 69 Eyes.
I fell in love with Don't Turn Your Back on Fear and every song I've ever listened by them is fooching awesome.
Okay, I like Lost Boys and Devils maybe, but the rest of the album is crappy, as well as Angels and Back In Blood.

Also, Sentenced's Funeral Album. :cries:

I've probably mentioned this already, but that damn latest album by Linkin Park. Loved their earlier stuff. Tolerated Reanimation. But Minutes to Midnight? Aside from "What I've Done", I hated that album. A Thousand Suns better be good or I'm swearing 'em off.

Pendulum's Hold Your Color album. In Silico and their newest, Immersion, are really strong albums; I don't know what happened in the middle there! There are some good songs on there, but not something I would go out of my way to listen to again.

Bauhaus - Go Away White and Burning From the Inside

Don't get me wrong. I fucking love Bauhaus. I wake up almost every morning and play part of the Gotham DVD to wake up and find a happier mood about being awake so early. But Go Away White was a pile of crap. I've tried repeatedly to listen to that album and get into it, but it just isn't a Bauhaus album. There's something missing in the sound and lyrics, in my opinion. You can tell it's not one of their favorite albums either because EVERY time Peter Murphy plays a song from it during his solo tours, he needs a sheet with the lyrics out in front of him. Also, I'm not a huge fan of Burning From the Inside (it has a couple great songs, don't get me wrong), but it's more a Love and Rockets album than Bauhaus given how little Peter Murphy did for the album due to his being sick. And for whatever reason, I've just never been able to get into Love and Rockets. I've tried. Maybe I just down have the right albums? I don't know. It is tragic. :(

And let the lynching begin... *worried*

The Cure - Japanese Whispers.

We felt betrayed when we heard Love Cats and Robert Smith mentioned, that he didn't had the courage to play this song on a Gig in Bochum mid of the eighties, when he saw ten thousand people dressed in black and not one coloured peace of cloth.
