Post Angelspit anyone?
I looked up this band basically called Angelspit and I loved them. Someone told me they were Goth and I thought that they didn't sound very gothy but I was a baby bat and she was a full blown Goth so I was sort of like "What do I know?" Anyway, on YT I have some asshole screaming at me and telling me to learn my facts and that they aren't goth. Well how was I, a baby bat supposed to know that if a real goth didn't even know it! It got me thinking. Who's disgracing the subculture more? The person who's yelling at me for making an honest mistake? Or the person who made said mistake? I mean, he claims that I'm a disgrace and the epitome of what he hates about poseurs (Hate that term) but what the hell? Other goths were getting it wrong too!

Can't goths make mistakes?
When was this rule enforced?

XO

Uh-oh, Angel, looks like you nearly got arrested by the Poseur Police! But no worries. The Secret Goth Cabal will bail you out of jail.

I haven't heard any of Angelspit's music. I'll have to check them out.

Angelspit are fucking awesome. They describe my hatred of everything so very perfectly.
I'm getting falls made by the girl who did DestroyX's falls :)

I liked Krankhaus, and a couple of tracks off the second album, I'd probably like them a lot more if they were an instrumental group to be honest, their lyrics just leave me cold.

I saw them last Spring at Dracula's Ball. They had a pretty fun stage presence. High energy with an 'In your face' attitude.

Not even SoM is gothic. So who cares about? There are just three ebm bands, no one listens to, but everybody knows industrial/ebm. On the german gothic board we decided for a collective incompetence and indicate on wikipedia. Historically it's a exonym, a term imposed ny others for this black dressed people, who didn't call themselves like that in the beginning. In the late 80ies they started to call people like that "Grufti" which means vaulty here. No one called himselft like that. So we are sure, if someone wants to tell you what gothic is or not, he, she, it is not the real stuff and is wasting time on an unnessential matter. I mean that's for kids who are looking for a new identitiy. Angelspit is an interesting innovation of the electronic sector. It's much better than lots of the actual ebm stuff. Although I know sounds like that since the 90ies from the experimental electro scene. I like scars and stripes.

I saw Angelspit in Newcastle a good few years ago. I like the image but not the sound so much. My partner really likes them though.

I'm pretty much in alignment with Milky on this one. I've talked about them before, and while in recent months my electronic-based goth library has been growing, they aren't my top cup of tea.

Actually, they're like coffee to me - I'll drink it but I prefer to get my caffeine from other sources.

Mainly due to lyrical content.

My username is no doubt a dead give away to the amount of knowledge I have about the goth world, so it should come as no surprise when I say...

I have no idea whether or not Angelspit can genuinely be classified as 'goth'. However since I started listening to them there have been a few songs that I really like, but A LOT of their songs fall flat for me. But the main female vocalist has a unique tone that I haven't heard from any other artist so far. Their lyrics don't seem to be encrypted in their meaning but instead they seem to have a nightmare/vision appeal to them if your into that I guess (apparently I am). Definitely wouldn't call them horrible, but they are not my all time favorite (still looking in case anyone has some suggestions). So overall I have to agree with Milky and Carpathian.

That whole situation is a nightmare for me. I'm still learning myself and for someone to reap me over music, style of dress or anything else would be devastating when I'm still trying to establish my gothic identity. My worst fear. I feel for you Angel.
