Lou Reed

A discussion of all things musical, that does not really fit in the other music categories.

Lou Reed

Postby Black Milk » Sun Oct 27, 2013 9:01 pm

For those that don't know Lou Reed has died.
Rather than make a thread mourning his death, I felt I'd prefer to make a thread celebrating his legacy, which will live forever.

Counter-culture before counter-culture was really a thing, few people could ever lay claim to the kind of impact Lou has had, both musically & socially.
The Velvet Underground are, and probably always will be, one of my all time favourite bands, often imitated and never really equaled.
While I didn't always like what he did after them, I always respected that he was being a true artist, always pushing forward, trying new things, and not content to rest on his laurels and cash in on his back catalogue.

When I first signed up to post on this forum 11 years ago, I put a Velvet Underground reference in my profile, I've never changed it, and I never will.

I haven't got the time-time

I am tired, I am weary
I could sleep for a thousand years
A thousand dreams that would awake me
Different colors made of tears

Rest in peace, Lou. You'll be deeply missed.

another music legend has gone from us.
But music stays for eternity and I will keep on listening to it. I don't listne to him often, but great artists are always a treat for my ears when I feel like concentrating on the music I'm listening to and just let my mind wander off.
