You guys ever heard of these guys? Well, over here they are your equivilant of the Sisters or the Cure or whatever. Unfortunately, I can't link you to any downloads... yet. But if you have limewire or something similar, try checking them out. Learn how different things are here... You might even like them. If you're looking I suggest the Parabola filmclip. Truly mindbending. Be warned, they're not conventional Goth, and some songs are not Gothic at all. But hey, it's what we have down here in the arse-end of the world...

They are not conventional goth 'cause they are not a goth band at all.
That doesn't mean that they are bad, though. Tool is a great band! The play extremly wellmade alt-metal.
My fav album is without Ænima. Excellent songwriting, good lyrics and good variation. Lateralus is a bit too long, and Undertow hasn't really got that good songs.
What do you mean when you say they are the equialent of Sisters or the Cure?

RiffRaff the 'goths' in Australia hold them in the same reverence that you or I would give to the Sisters Of Mercy or The Cure

That's... bizarre. Tool have never been goth. How did that happen?

They certainly have been filling the airwaves with dark lyrics and bizarre videos for the past 12 years, but I never thought of them as "goth."

I find that kind of hard to believe. Could another Australian confirm this?

Great band. As has been noted, not goth.
Though, Danny Carey did drum on one song on Skinny Puppy's Greater Wrong Of The Right. And cEvin Key has remixed them.

I know, it's bizzare. But Australia's Goth scene has become somewhat distorted. And if you want, I'll try to find someone else to confirm this. I don't know how it happened, but hey, at least they didn't end up trying to adopt Korn. Then I'd have to kill ALL of them.

Well, I can see how it works to a degree. And it is true, to an ammount.
It probably depends on where abouts in Australia, in the smaller communities, where you'd be lucky to get about 5 or so, then the music listened to by them seems to mainly be things like tool, HIM, and Cradle.
I've found that Australia seems to have a looser definition of "goth" music, and the big goth and futurepop DJs can be seen going to the black metal gigs.
That said, around the cities (especially Sydney and Melbourne) with the amount of gawwf activity, it's presumed that people will know who the sisters are, especially as allmost all the clubs play 80s.
It probably comes down to the fact that tool tours australia ... the cruxshadows don't.

when speaking of industrial, Tool has one song that without doubt could be called this: Die Eier von Satan.
Even though it is just a joke :p

Well, theres your confirmation. I couldn't say for clubs. I can get in, despite being underage. But I refuse to go 'till I'm 18. I attract fights somehow. And if the cops turn up, I don't want to be twice as guilty. At least there's one major benefit to being such a loose scene. One group tends to contain a wider variety of interesting people.

Tool = Goth. It takes all types to run the world. That is bizarre though.

No they aren't, that's been established already.
