Hmmm, why do I feel like this has been done before? Oh well, I'll reply anyway:
My musical tastes are constantly evolving and it's hard to pick just one or two favourite bands, but I'll try:
Warning: The Following Selections are Subject to Change Without Notice
The Sisters of Mercy- Definitely my most played music. My favourite CD is wearing out, I didn't know that could happen. :p
The Cure- Robert Smith has bewitched me with his intense vocals and that hair... I am powerless to resist.
Moist- Canadian alternative band I've spent far too much time obsessing over. Beautifully sculpted songs, though, the impeccable lyrics, the sweet melody lines, the joy of Moist.
Garbage- Shirley Manson is a goddess.
The Beatles- I grew up on the Beatles. My parents, hippie-esque folks, played me a lot of classic rock and it was a great foundation for my musical tastes.
Air- A French band that plays incredible atmospheric music. They haven't recieved the publicity they deserve.
Rasputina- I am in love with Rasputina. For anyone who doesn't know, they're a cello band that happens to play rock-ish music. It's bittersweet, haunting and just perfect. And they play in Victorian underwear, you can't beat that.
Others:
Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Ani DiFranco, Janis Joplin, NIN, Joy Division, Colin James, Nightwish, Christian Death.

Hmm.
Interesting thread. I'm quite a progressive-whore, so my favourite bands tend to be the likes of Genesis, Liquid Tension Experiment, Dream Theater, Spock's Beard and the Rudess/Morgenstein Project.
Having said that, i'm also quite fond of The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Cruxshadows, Orbital (electronica), and Opeth.
That's just a few of the bands in my 22GB music collection. I'm afraid i'm going to wear out the HD sectors that LTE and Genesis are stored on....:S

My all time favorite band is Nine Inch Nails. I don't have a list as I am pretty fickle when it comes to music, but TR and the gang have been the one true constant in my collection over the past 15 years or so.

*edit* Dosen't this belong in general music? People have listed non-goth/industrial bands (when I posted I thought I was in the general music forum.)
