Does the "Music/DJ's" section in the forums HAVE to be focused only on Goth music?

Perhaps this is because I've come from forums where it wasn't just catered to one specific subculture, (unless you call Smashing Pumpkins obsessors a subculture)but I'd feel perhaps being a little more open in terms of genres, would contribute greatly to the forum.

I mean sure, it's a GOTH forum, but still.... just a thought. ^^;

We allow a lot of types of music to be posted, and there is a Smashing Pumpkins thread in the music section. Not only that, but there are a lot of Smashing Pumpkins fans here. So if you want to do a forum search for Smashing Pumpkins... then by all means. If you don't find one, then feel free to start one up.

But the reason why that particular thread is a good idea is because SP happens to be a band that a lot of goths like (not to mention the fact that during the Bauhaus reunion tour in 1999, when they stopped in Chicago Billy Corgan was up on stage with Peter Murphy singing Flatfield).


Usually we discourage non-gothic music threads not because we're being 'elitist' but because there are many other boards out there that cater to other types of music, and since this board caters to goth, we tend to discuss gothic music here.

ah, k. thanks for clearing that up :] I wasn't talking about SP specifically, though... I meant just music in general.

btw, I don't think you're being elitist by discouraging non-goth music threads at all... being a goth forum, t'is quite justified in my opinion.
