Hmm...
Maybe I am wrong person to post this since my popularity seem to reach those of Adolf Hitlers in the middle of 1945 but would it not be nice if a Goth-Net (convent?) could be hosted somewhere?
I guess it would have to be in the states since so many of the users are from the great west, but the thought is worth thinking?
I realize some people here might be a bit young to travel across the whole continent (had that problem with another convent that an online game hosted too, they had a 18 year limit that made some people frenzy) but for those interested I think, as I said: The idea is worth thinking, no?
Any thoughts?

It might be interesting. However I'm dirt poor (college is like a big money vacuum cleaner) I doubt I could afford to travel any more than a state or two away from Ohio

I would have to come all the way from Europe, so unless traveling withing the USA is very expensive, I'd say you just be happy
Studying is extremly expensive, a week ago I had to buy litterature for 110$ and that's pretty much for me (about 1100 Swedish Krowns)... ???
It would be really nice to meet atleast some of the people that I talk to (more or less) everyday...

I think that meeting regionally might be a good idea, but a word wide meet when we have people here from Sweden to Israel to California may be a bit unfeasible.
There's always Convergence in the spring, so if people wanted to meet there, they could start saving up for Vegas.

Convergence being a net.goth gathering anyway... with the added advantage that they have negotiated down hotel rates, sometimes even airline rates and have a whole bunch of stuff organised to do, and a great many more participants.
Convergence is also often either an 18+ or 21+ event though due to club regulations or drinking laws.
I doubt everyone from the board would be able to make it to a GOTH.NET get together anyway considering a vast number are under 16.
Hopefully the Vegas Convergence will be within the realm of possibility for PreZ and myself, and I hope that others might go as well... it would be cool to meet some of the GN peeps.

Is convergence going to keep being an annual thing? This year is bad for me, but maybe next...
And as much as I love y'all, I don't have the money to go travel halfway across the world to hang out with pretentious gits in too much eye makeup

Shadow Crow...I think you mean convention..not convent..* laughs inside at image of Shadow Crow visiting the convent where she works.
Although one of the nuns is really into hunting and would love discussing firearms anytime I'm sure..

well, i am gonna take a road trip over to wisconsin with some friends after highschool, or maybe when i hit 17 but thats at least 2 years away. But kansas might be a good place. It has large cities and is central. My family has a family reunion of about 100 people from all over the US in kansas city. Just theres nothing to do there. Just a sugestion based on location and geographic location

i think it is an excellent idea!
but i also think it shouldn't be a one off.
if it is going to happen it should happen 'soon' so the idea doesn't die. (definition of soon is debatable).
but if it is a one off a lot of people will not be happy. if it happens every few years (or more or less) then people would have the chance to gain a few years or save.
i fall into both categories ??? but i am determined to travel so when that happens i could always take a detour.

Well, next year's will be number 9, with no apparant plans to quit, so I'll assume they'll keep going on for a while yet.

Check the Convergence9 thread in the Clubs/Events section... in one of the posts I linked to the website for it.
Off the top of my head it's the last weekend in April (before it gets too hot and nasty) and the website can be found at http://www.altgothic.com/c9lasvegas/ but not completely sure.

Personally I think I'd rather tack on a little GOTH.NET gathering onto an existing event like Convergence or something... just make plans to meet or hang out during it.
For a few reasons: I'm not sure there are that many peopple that organising a seperate event would be feasible... and who would organise it? and then there's the question of what to do when we're all together, bit expensive for some people to come from half way across the country or even a different country to just sit in a cafe or something talking.
