Hello, all!

Well, this thread has somewhat renewed my faith... There seem to be no gothically inclined people round these parts of Twickenham!

Gothic Christmas presents? Sadly, no, but my father gave me a book called How To Know God, and my "dog" gave me another: The Social Animal.

I have the feeling my parents don't like the real me. xD

Not too keen on pocket watches myself. I'd never be able to wear one sadly, although some are quite aesthetically pleasing. I much prefer a watch on my wrist.

Gothic presents... hmm... got a piece of Alchemy Gothic jewellery, and some Anne Stokes artwork (doesn't exactly scream "gothic" though).

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled next time I go to my local market. I can't wear watches on my wrist, they just feel wrong. I need to get one that I can wear around my neck, I have a couple but they were my Nan's and they no longer work. I must admit to using my mobile for telling the time these days

The only pocket watch I have doesn't keep very good time, so it's not much use to me *sigh*

Yeah I don't like them around my wrist either. It kind of feels like your showing off by showing everyone your " super expensive Rolex Swiss movement awesome watch" (you can tell I have no idea what I am talking about :D )

I do know what you're talking about, banshi :) You're meaning that you don't like the position the watch is on the wrist because it gives a showing off, attention seeking, gother than thou like attitude? Am I right or am I just thinking of something else?

I wish I could say I don't like wearing a watch on my wrist because it's so covered with expensive bling that it would make people envious  Sadly they just feel so uncomfortable to me... I've just taken one off after wearing it since about lunch time and I have a deep red indentation in my skin (as I hate a loose feeling watch and I have rather large wrists ;) ). For some reason watches always seem to sit on a bone in my wrist and make it feel tender, too.

Hi there from the North West,
I've just signed up, so I thought I would introduce myself.
(I will trim down an avatar pic ASAP and update my profile).
I'm a middle aged goth geek (computers/linux) who became a corporate goth for 20 years but currently taking time off due to a mild heart attack.
It's a great excuse to catch up with some music and reading, and indeed make a few new friends through the Message Boards.
