To those of you who post here with broken avatars, (currently Ravyn and Jacquel, though in the case of the latter that seems to sporadically work)... could you guys either change where you host the images or choose one from the board selection please? It's not all that nice to see broken images all the time.
In a few weeks I'll be manually changing the avatars of those posters who are broken and set them to no avatar. So please fix it before then.

Sorry about that Lilith. I saw someone else was using the wolf avatar, so I attempted to make my own. It was working for a while, then for some reason it came up as broken.
Looks like the wolf it will remain.

Yes it's another name for display pic which is indeed the picture under your name and post rank. On this forum you can choose your avatar from the ones goth.net provide or link your own that you're hosting through a site like photobucket. On other forums they allow you to hotlink images from other people's sites which isn't really a good thing as it's considered stealing as you're using up and wasting the owner of the image's bandwidth and can result in their site shutting down if they have a limited bandwidth for their site.

animal_man: does it say anywhere that direct linking is acceptable? If it doesn't I'd recommend sending an e-mail to their support teams. I checked the faq's and so on but couldn't find it.
Either I skimmed over it or it wasn't there. Since its their bandwidth you'll be using. I recommend asking them.

halil,
Go into your control panel (the button is at the top of the screen). When you get there, click on "Personal Info" then click on "Avatar Options". Once there you may select one of the pre-made avatars or link to the address of a picture you would like to use. We do not host pictures for you, so you will need to have your picture hosted elsewhere and just link directly to it.
Hope this helps.

 Umm...
I've been trying to edit my avatar, and no matter what link I put in for an image hosting site, it won't work. The file is 5kb and 64x64 pixels, I made sure of all this. Is it a problem anyone else has experienced, or am I the only one? :(
**Edited to add, I felt a need to change my avatar because my original one got stretched, skewed, and just didn't look right**

It should work now. It was a PHP securiy setting I had on, but one of the mods I have on the boards (that checks to ensure your avatar fits with the site) required me to disable it.
