Todays outage

PreZ Administrator Joined: January 2002 Posts: 968 Location: New York, USA Gender:	Todays outage The GOTH.NET server was down today from 4pm through 7:45pm pacific time today. The server was shut down initially by our colocation host to perform maintenance on the power strip that the server was plugged in to (they only sent an email at 3pm about this maintenance, which I have still yet to receive). They powered the machine back on about 10 minutes later. The remainder of the time was my own fault. I activated a health monitoring application on the server, but it was starting up too soon in the boot sequence, which was causing it to think the server was in an unhealthy state because certain services had not yet started, but it did not know this. This has been rectified now (of course), and the server is now obviously back up. Apologies for the unscheduled outage, and for it being longer than necessary. _________________ PreZ -- Systems Administrator, GOTH.NET I wanted to change the world, but god wouldnt give me the source code.
