Post Todays outage
The GOTH.NET server was down today from 4pm through 7:45pm pacific time today.

The server was shut down initially by our colocation host to perform maintenance on the power strip that the server was plugged in to (they only sent an email at 3pm about this maintenance, which I have still yet to receive).  They powered the machine back on about 10 minutes later.

The remainder of the time was my own fault.  I activated a health monitoring application on the server, but it was starting up too soon in the boot sequence, which was causing it to think the server was in an unhealthy state because certain services had not yet started, but it did not know this.

This has been rectified now (of course), and the server is now obviously back up.  Apologies for the unscheduled outage, and for it being longer than necessary.

Please don't post if you don't have anything useful to say. That goes for you to ArcAngel.

Thank you.

PreZ no harm no foul. I mean if it was a paid service that went down for a week then I'd be a tad annoywed but hey its now fixed.

That goes especially for ArcAngel, who should know better, and who has been warned on more than one occasion to stop posting inanities and dragging threads off-topic, which are offences that other users have been reamed over, and it's wearing down my patience and that of the other moderators (besides SC that is).

Was there another outage recently?  I actually noticed one last night.  Or yesterday morning.  Can't remember what time it was...  Anyway, I kept getting the "goth.net timed out" thing.

Not that I was worried.  I'm not worried.  You're worried.  Get off my back.

Yes, there was.

The issue, obviously, was resolved ;)
