Finding Your Animal Daemon
For those of you familiar with Philip Pullman's
His Dark Materials trilogy, or who have seen the steampunk gothic motion picture
The Golden Compass, the human inhabitants of Pullman’s universe possess an animal daemon, generally of the opposite gender to their own, described thus:
“They are your soul mate. They are the completion of your soul.”
-- Chris Weitz, director of the movie
The Golden Compass“The daemon is that part of you that helps you grow towards wisdom.”
-- Philip Pullman, author of the
His Dark Materials trilogy
More on defining daemonsYour daemon is an animal that goes everywhere with you. Your daemon's species is a representation of your own personality. Your daemon comforts you and guides you through all difficulties in your life. Your daemon sleeps when you sleep, curled up beside you. Your daemon hungers when you hunger, feels pain when you are hurting, etc.
Your daemon may be visible or invisible, depending on which world you live on. Here in our own world, our daemons are invisible -- but they exist with us, walking side-by-side with us and guiding us if we choose to listen to them. If we were to travel to the world of Lyra (Pullman's protagonist in the novels) our daemons would become visible.
If you would like to know your daemon’s species and her/his name, through the magic of anagrams, all you need to do is scramble (for privacy) your own name and provide it here.
If you need help scrambling your name, click on this link to a scrambling tool you can use:
Scramble Me Then post your scramble here and I will anagram your daemon for you.
The daemon that your anagrammed name reveals will be uniquely your own, having been formed of the elements of your own name.
EDIT: For best results, please give me a scramble of your name both ways: first/last and first/middle/last. Also, if your gender isn't indicated in your profile, then please let me know if you are male or female. Males have female daemons; females have male daemons.
