Post Updos- I need updos!!
So, it's a new year, and I want new hairdos. Purple hair isn't cutting it. I want my hair to be a bit more elegant and exciting to go with my wardrobe, not just plain and straight, maybe curls if I'm really kickin. I want more of an Victorian-esque updo, reminiscent of Amy Lee's hair at times, like so:

http://media.photobucket.com/image/amy% ... my_lee.jpg

Granted my hair isn't as long as hers, but I'd like to hairdo that's close. Does anybody have any links to updo tutorials for people with medium length hair?

You could try youtube. They normally have pretty good tutorials for hair and surprisingly good ones for makeup(hint-watch the tuts done by drag queens).

For those hairdos, you're going to need some extensions or clip ins. I can garuantee you that it's not all hers.

Hehe. Drag queens. ^_^

Yeah, sometimes I try to avoid weave and extensions because of the stigma on (black) women like me, but since it appears that everybody is doing it, I guess it's worth giving it a shot for a hairdo like this. :D

They do make clip ins that you can take out after you tire of the hairdo(or before you go to sleep).

Yes, Drag Queens! You want your makeup to stay on ALL DAY? They know how to do it. I've never met a woman that was as good at makeup as a queen. ;) They know all kinds of little tricks and products to use that most people don't even think of. Or Elder Goths, I'm talking the ones that have been doing their own stuff since the 80s. :P

Well, while searching on Youtube, I was able to find a tutorial on one of Amy Lee's hairstyles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bs1ITP8 ... re=related

Not exactly what I had in mind, but it's really cute and I do plan on testing it out. :D

Yeah! I've also been looking at real Victorian pictures as references. Here are some sites that I've found:

http://www.shootingstarhistory.com/hairstyles.html

http://www.morninggloryantiques.com/JewelChatJet.html

http://vodpod.com/watch/1971694-victori ... les-part-1

I feel even more better to know that even Victorian madams had to use hair extensions. :P

But now that I look further into historical hairstyles, I'd probably be going closest to the Rococo style:

Thanks to our local "Bumpits hate" thread, I've learn that to achieve some of these looks, I'm probably going to have to be doing some hair teasing.

Or bumpits.
