Does anyone else play Warhammer or 40K on here?

I used to, but since I don't have a Scrooge McDuck-esque money bin I could never keep up with it, let alone finish my Tyranid army (why oh why was I always drawn to the swarm armies?). As much as I detest the money-sucking ways of Games Workshop however, I will always love the lore and setting of Warhammer 40k.

I know alot of the lore and have even read the entire Saint Sabbat series by Dan Abnett. Though I have never once played the tabletop game. Nor would I ever put out that much money. I think the warhammer universe has very rich lore though. I also have a very big hatred for the Blizzard company for blatantly ripping off warhammer fantasy as well as 40k. Though Blizzard makes great games period.

Yes, unfortunately there is always the money aspect...

I've been playing off and on for almost 20 years, so I don't need to invest much money at this point. I can always drag out and dust off an old army that I painted a decade ago. Even if a new edition changes the army, I can either bring it up to date with a few models - or abandon it until the next edition.

I'm in the middle of working on a Death Guard army for 40K as it is, my first new army in many years...

I'm somewhat familiar with it.

Nice. I had a Guard Army myself a while back...

Yes, I regret selling it.

I've actually quit with GW products beyond the books. They've priced themselves out of my range and the clear disregard shown for the loyal fanbase is..... cuntish.

Plus working for them didn't help.

I can imagine that working for them would leave a bit of a sour hangover afterwards...

As it is, I still like their stuff. The worlds - both 40K and Fantasy - are fun and evocative. Their models are great. The games aren't as good as they could be, but they're a fun enough excuse to paint up tiny knights/creatures...

The worlds are pretty good, but you have to pick and choose or you end up finding something stupid. Miniaturewise they're spiraling slowly downwards. The cost/quality ratio is dropping insanely fast, and the rules get worse with every iteration. 5th ed 40k is weirdly good, but 6th ed fantasy was the best and that's now two editions back. THe main problem though is Codex creep, and how it ties into increasing prices. I *was* playing IG when the new codex came out, but overnight my army dropped in points by 33% before taking doctrine costs into account. Not cool.

I actually own a Tau army, though I've only played a few times. I have been eyeing Warmachine a little bit. I have little motivation pushing me to play though.

I cannot decide between fantasy or 40k.

Actually daemons are one of the most appealing. Though in fantasy it is wood elves.

40k eldar, daemons and tyranid.
