Breaking Glass ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080469/) Scanners ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081455/) -LS > St. Helens, Merseyside, Don't bother going I got as far as John Moors Uni. and a night out on the town (some very ornate pubs I remember).

I'm exagerrating slightly, it's not that bad, but had one of the largest crowds of try hard wannabe goths you'll see for a while. Eventually they stopped even trying, but still professed to be goth. Whatever gets you by I guess. As for Cronenberg, I'd been meaning to investigate anyway.

 Re: Your favourite films
I'm only halfway through watching Begotten, but I can honestly say I find it very beautiful. Actually, I was moved to tears watching it. I don't see anything sick or horrifying about it. It is very sad and painful, loneliness and futility are what flash most brightly in it. After reading the inspiration for it I understand why it is so haunting.

One of my favorites is "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen." It's great, and one of my other favorites is the almost 8 hour movie, "Lonesome Dove."

One of the 'gothiest' movies ever made, in my opinion: 'Portrait of Jennie'.http://www.amazon.com/Portrait-Jennie-Jennifer-Jones/dp/B0002KPHYC

Black Milk wrote: Requiem For a Dream : Absolutely stunning film, everything about this film is completely perfect in my opinion, very moving and visually a treat, very sad ending, but if that kind of thing doesn't put you off, then I can not recommend this film enough Labyrinth : Such a fun film, great puppets and animation by Jim Henson plus David Bowie!!! How could it not be awesome!?!? Zoolander : This is probably my all time fave comedy's, so stupid its brilliant The petrol fight scene is classic! Aliens : A roller coaster ride of insane action scenes mixed with horror, featuring the most bad ass ET ever imagined. Also quite possibly the most quotable film EVER "Game over man! Game over!!!"Ghost in the Shell: The animation, when this was new, blew my mind, I'd never seen anything this good, until then I assumed Akira would be the final word in animation. This too has been surpassed, but luckily its an enjoyable film anyway, these types of animes really bring me back to when I was 14 reading Cyberpunk novels (eg. the Shadowrun series). Edward Scissorhands: I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, my fave Tim Burton film.....and Johnny Depp film for that matter. Heartwarming without making me feel a little ill The sets and overall look of the film are fantastic, and Depp nails the part. Near Dark: The best Vampire film ever made IMO, featuring...well....half the cast of Aliens this film just oozes atmosphere, cant get enough of it. ...I must have been ill when I made this list...not a single Bill Murray film?! So yeah, I'd add all Bills films to that list (except the Garfield films). Oh, and Juno too.

 Re: Your favourite films
There are old but really good films about wampires of Czech directors:
Valerie and her week of wonders (directed by Jaromil Jires, 1970),
The last thief (directed by Jiri Barta, 1987).

 Re: Your favourite filmsru
In no particular order: Let the RIght One In (Great Swedish film which seems to transcend the exhausted vampire genre) Last of the Mohicans Interview with a Vampire (Fingers crossed the remake meets the standard set!) V for Vandetta American Beauty (mainly for the soundtrack) Amelie (again, mainly for the soundtrack - Comptine D'un Autre Ete is worth listening to on its own if you're fond of sad, haunting piano melodies) Romeo and Juliet (Baz Luhrmann's version) The Crow The Craft (pure cheese ) Waking Life (Philosophical animation based on lucid dreams and existentialism) The Shining The Eye(original version - not the crappy Hollywood remake) The Fountain The Labrynth The Dark Crystal Heartless (brand new british movie produced by CInema-MX - fantastically crafted suspense thriller with an interesting take on mental deterioration set against a London backdrop) If anyone could recommend any good psychological thrillers it would be very much appreciated
