I do wear a lot of black, listen to what could be considered goth music, am VERY attracted to goth chicks, clothes and scenes though. If someone calls me goth, fine. If someone doesn't think I am, thant's fine too, don't really care. But yah, i'm just me.

Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
Hey, I like "perky goth"!
I don't know what I'd call myself. I'm still figuring out who I am in general, but my path has thus far led me in the direction of the Goth subculture. I feel weird saying I'm Goth for some reason (been called it by other people, just feels like I shouldn't call myself that - can't explain that one though). I'll let you all come to your own conclusion as to what I am though.
Music - I like punk (original, post, pop), gothic rock, some 80s pop, some industrial, oldies
Clothes - dark(er), tight(er), do like some color though, most often wear blue jeans, and I admit I like some Hot Topic stuff

I just throw up in my mouth a lot. Why A lot? And don't hold it all in. Just let it go everywhere.

You dislike people who call themselves 'perky goth' and I've had it up to my ears with the whole 'Notagoth' nonesense and people who think Goths can't be anything but serious or depressed. You don't have to have a specific attitude to be a part of a subculture.

If you think i'm goth, then refer to me as such. You are right that people don't have to have a specific attitude to be part of a subculture. No more than I have to drag around a specific word to be a part of one.

It is far easier than having to explain the same thing over and over to people who ask what I am and what my interests are. I'd rather label myself than have a million others do it for me. I can't stand perkiness that seems faked or those overly-optimistic people who never have a bad day.

Fickle goth. Too many interests to describe oneself with one word.

Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
"Perky goth" or "mopey goth" just don't make sense to me..... that sounds more like a personality type than a culture or even taste.
Just be yourself!! Everyone, despite belief or artistic persuasion has a right to have emotions!!
As far as taste.... well, I came into this whole culture because the power of darkness compels me.... dark music, occultism, the supernatural unknown. What all that has to do with something as mundane as "negativity" is just beyond me, because I've never felt anything but positivity.
And yes, musically, artistically, fashion-wise, I do tend to like the "blackest of the black, darkest of the dark"..... that's just what I like, criticize me as you wish.
But yes, I do like to have fun and joke around, and show emotion..... but sometimes I feel people who go out of their way to always be "funny" in order to cover up their real selves, and are NEVER serious are just as fake and phoney as those who pretend to be grimmer than the grimmest elitists.

Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
It's odd, people often think there's something wrong with me because I never watch South Park, Simpsons, or any other kind of rude American comedy cartoon on a weekly basis.... It's not that I don't enjoy a good laugh, but it's just that i never go out of my way to force it into my life..... Not only that, but I just don't find rude humor funny, nor do I find people TRYING to be funny funny. NATURAL ironies in everyday life are funny.....

If I'm not seeing the humorous side of things, then I'm not being serious.

There is something wrong with you, To-san, but that's why you fit in here. Obviously there's something wrong with all of us or we wouldn't be Goths(according to society). That reminds me, my husband thinks it's strange that the last couple months I haven't been watching the new Simpsons every week. He keeps acting like I'm the one that always needs the TV on when he's the one who acts like it's going to kill him if the television's ever turned off. He asks me what I'm watching when he comes home and I honestly haven't a clue because I just leave it on whatever station he puts it on before work.
