Buy a nice hot water bag. They are your friend!! I used to have bad cramps too, there were times when I would be laying on the floor in a ball sobbing because it felt like my abdomen was being ripped apart from the inside. I tried to drink hot tea and regularly used my hot water bag. I put in as hot tap water as I could get, and would just leave it on myself for as long as the cramps were going on. Sometimes I would even take it to work for me (I was working office jobs then) and fill it up in the bathroom. It really helped loosen up the muscles.
Also, and trust me, I know how little someone would want to do this when they are having incredibly bad cramps, but exercise will help so much. Even just walking or doing a little cardio for a couple of minutes every hour or two will start to loosen them up.
I used to take Motrin like it was free. I always took more than the recommended amount. I'm not going to tell you to take that much because I don't know what your health is like, but, and I'm not in bad health necessarily, I would take almost twice the recommended dosage every 4-6 hours (or however long they said) and it really did help to ease the pain for me.
I'm really sorry you're having problems like this, trust me I know how you feel because I used to be the same way. I really hope it gets better for you though.

On another note - I switched to a 'Moon Cup' years ago and would never go back.

I had never heard of that, so I looked it up online. THank you for posting about it. Thats the most ingenious thing I've ever heard of!!! I'm totally excited to buy one and try it now. I have sensitive skin, and have problems with the chemicals in the pads that pull moisture away from the skin but I also have severe problems with using tampons (which I have to do when my skin starts to hurt so badly from the pads that I can't walk around)...it's a total pain in the ass. It's strange to be this excited about a menstruation product...lol.

Mistik, they are made of surgical grade silicon so they should be non-irritating, as far as I know.

It may take you a couple of cycles to figure out how to position the cup so it doesn't leak, but once you do you'll wonder why you never used one before!

There's a livejournal community here:

I haven't had my period in about a year and a half. While my pain was mostly due to endometriosis, I do know that ever since I was a kid, the heating bad and ibuprofen were my best friends every month. My mom gave me a hot toddy once (it was kinda like tea with a little whiskey thrown in) but it was disgusting to me at the time. It may have worked, but I honestly don't remember.

As for birth control - it is used for many different things other than just as a contraceptive. I am on Mirena for the endo (certainly isn't for birth control as I'm not "active"). I know several people that have been on it for migraines.

As for the diva/moon cup, how long has that been out? I've never heard of it either. Though I can't imagine using it to be entirely honest.

Oh yes, exercise does really help :) I often find any sort of activity that can take your mind off it can help to some degree (depending on the severity of the pain), but exercise certainly does help a lot. And if you do some intensive ab workouts, you'll soon forget the menstrual cramps...ooooh XD It hurts so good!

(That wasn't supposed to be pervy or creepy btw, if you get a good muscle ache after some good exercise, you may know what I mean lol).

I think they've been around since the 1930s, but they're just not that popular. I think with the rise in the idea of 'going green' more people have picked up on menstrual cups.

I simply got mine because I'll never have to worry about my husband bringing home the wrong size tampons and I don't have to worry about running out of anything.
