Wonderful pictures.

You know, after seeing these pictures, I have realized something.

Though women look damn good dressed Goth, I think men are trice as appealing when dressed in such a way, especially Victorian dress for the elegance of it. No form of dress looks better to me than to see a Goth guy dressed full and proud in Goth attire (no matter the extremes, though as I said, I refer the Victorian). Yes, I love to see men dressed up more than the woman. Weird I know since the women look hot as hell, but there it is. I wish more men would dress that way.

oh and while I'm on the subject, I like to see a guy who is not afraid to wear make-up. So to see the men in these pictures, is a true gift to me.

That's an interesting observation, Midi. On the whole, I absolutely agree, but it's curious - one of the things I felt was that women appear to carry the Victorian look off effortlessly, whereas not every man I saw did - some looked uncomfortable in the clothing. It tended to look best on older men, who didn't give way to the temptation of adding in gothy elements (eg, shoes) which really didn't belong to the style.

Just adding some scanned bits and pieces acquired around and about. Firstly, the most important one:

This company had a very good selection available at the Bizarre Bazaar, and the prices were reasonable too:

About as close as I come to having a "local venue":

I think Minnie & her partner should be recieving a salary from the Whitby Tourist Board, looks like you've got most of the board (myself included) wanting to go :)

Go for it. Its a nice little seaside resort outside of WGW as well.

I may well do that, I've wanted to make a trip to Britain for some time (I've only been to Scotland so far), the Festival would be a perfect excuse, and I could spend some time thee days before/after in Whitby. :)

Well, then, my job here is definitely done! :D It occurs to me that the Whitby weekends are highly unusual in that - although, to all intents a festival - it's more like a mix of a music festival and a convention, with a whole town as your playground! No muddy fields, dodgy food, queues for the lavs...

Just to let all our Whitby enthusiasts here know... There will be a lively Steampunk presence at the upcoming Whitby Alt. Festival, April 1st – 4th. "Steampunk Central" apparently will be set up at the Whitby Rifle Club, and the buzz is that the band Ghostfire will be back (Saturday, April 2nd). In addition there are plans for an elegant Steampunk Saturday Tea and Steampunk Sunday Brunch at Botham's of Whitby.

Who is seriously considering a Whitby festival weekend in the very near future. And who is also very, very envious of Minnie (and anyone else) who has been to the Whitby festivals.

There's clearly something in the air! I was checking out the web page for Whitby Alt Festival this morning; here's the link.

It doesn't look, for various reasons, as if I'm going to get to the spring WGW :( - but I'm going up there in a couple of weeks' time anyway... :D
