Re: I need help with my deathhawk.
I'm not an expert, but maybe if it isn't staying up you could leave out the gel and backcomb your 'hawk instead? If you have long hair like mine teasing does flatten over the course of the night, but lacquer (heavy duty hairspray) and a fine tooth comb can help maintain a big style better than product alone. See what you think. If you want to stick to gel without teasing, I've heard of people lying on their sides to style until its set in place (and even heard of punks sprinkling jelly crystals through their hair and ironing it! Lol).

Re: I need help with my deathhawk.
my sons hawk was pretty impressive , not a foot but close to it. We would put bed head stiff stuff (i remember it was blue) in it, quite generously. and then use the blow dryer to set the stuff. it never moved no matter how much head banging he did. course he has course hair and takes well to being spikey

Bed Head is great stuff. When I had one, and occasionally faux my hair now, a littlehair spray and back comb, then add more hair spray and blow dry up side down. Works well foe me.

I have to say...I think I'm going to try a faux deathhawk. I think my hair cut will lend itself to the style well. I'm excited!

Re: I need help with my deathhawk.
I've watched so many videos on youtube about teasing hair and nothing seems to work. I have the fine tooth comb...I even bought an actual teasing comb. I use this super hold spray from Tresemme and good old Aqua Net. Nothing! I get to the point where I just spray the crud out of my hair, try to get it to stand up, then it droops down with this sort of "Yeah, fuck you" attitude. My hair is maybe 6 inches long, heavily layered. I'm guessing my hair has just gotten too fine?
I wish you luck with the deathhawk sjl!

I wish you luck with the deathhawk sjl! Thanks. If you spray your hair with a lot of hair spray and do your hair just like you like it wait 2 hrs then dont wash it out just spray and do your hair the same way with the hair spray that gives the hair spray time to set and then you know what to fix if you have the time i will start two hrs early on my hair then wait then do it like norm. One more ? is the side burns just for girls on the deathhawk for girls every pic i have found that has a deathhawk with the side burns is a girl?

Re: I need help with my deathhawk.
When I was rocking a deathhawk, I used the extra hold hair spray from http://www.tresemme.com/Backcomb the base, spray it, blowdry, spray, blowdry until the base is sturdy. If your base is weak, your hawk will fall. Start moving up to the tips of the hair, spraying and blowdrying as you go. Repeat on the rest of your head. It would take me about 45 minutes to do it throughout, sometimes longer depending on how stubborn my hair was that day. As for the sideburns, I've seen it on both men and women in the deathrock and goth scenes. For punk, men usually don't have sideburns when sporting a hawk. In the end, it's your call. These days I've seen so many normal people sporting hawks that it's become a watered down hair style over here. Sad, but at least normals aren't sporting foot long multi colored liberty spikes yet

I remember the Hawk, but you're hot enough to rock it bald. Like the new avatar, BTW - very Matrix-y. ~spidey
