Post Any Evanescence fans here?
I have been a fan for a long time. Amy lee is my favorite rocker chick and I hope to see them live next year. I have not yet bought their new album, but I have heard a lot of good things. I adore the song My Immortal. A lot of people say Evanescence is a goth wannabe band, and that is just nonsense.

Well, in reality the band is more rock alternative than Goth. The ONLY thing that I really like about the band is the way Amy Lee dresses. That's about it. They have a couple good songs I think, but overall I rarely, and I mean rarely listen to this band. I think it mostly revolves around what a bitch I think Amy Lee is. Anyway, I didn't post to down the band. If you or anyone else likes this band it doesn't matter to me. Personally though, I really don't care for them.

I agree with midis comment about their genre, I personally don't really care for their music, I just wanted to see if I was going crazy, by asking a question :
This is the new Evanescence single, is it me, or is Amy Lee starting to look exactly like Tarrie B?

I've been waiting for ages for the oppurtunity to ask that question :P

I can see the similarities, though I have to say I think Tarrie B is hot as hell. Good song too.

Their music helped me in some difficult times. I never knew how deep can some lyrics cut into someone's soul before I heard their music.

After drastical changes in their band, they announced that they will change theis musical style. I was afraid that I will not be able to listen to that "new style". But, I was wrong.

The single "What you want" is a badass song. They made their music heavier and more... musical, in my opinion. The change is notable, but it's not that drastical.

I'm still an Evanescence fan. :)

It seems like the answer to this question so far is: Yes. 2.

I'll listen to alt rock, metal etc. No problem, and not doing any particular band down (far from it) but it seems anything with a bit of black leather or whispy clothing on show is automagically gothy. Never mind though, I just shrug and listen anyway... if its good.

Evanescence used to be my favorite band in high school up until all the drama broke out a few years ago with her firing John LeCompt and Rocky subsequently leaving. I wasn't a big fan of The Open Door either and the previews I've tried to listen to of the new album just make me cringe. I'll still pop in some Fallen and pre-Fallen music, but it's only every now and then and nothing beyond Fallen. As they say, all good things must come to an end. And of course, to each their own. :)

I used to be a huge Ev fan, but the new album is very disappointing, it's just a regurgitation of Fallen and they're trying too hard to recreate the success and the fame they had back then, what with trying to get on the Twilight soundtrack and all.

Now, apparently, Amy doesn't mind being called hot, supports barely legal women who wear lesser clothes than Britney Spears onstage and thinks they "rock", and doesn't mind showing herself off - what a hypocrite!

The sound and "art" is bland, boring, unimaginative, the lyrics are weak, and the whole "we were aiming for it" is just an excuse for not wanting to put in any more effort than is necessary, they've had their run, for me atleast. They've just put out an album for the fuck of it. I love The Open Door, and a few tracks here and there, but my interest in Ev is fading away now, maybe I've finally outgrown them. First it was the fans, now it's the band.

Eh, there's much better music out there.

I can say that I'm a fan... for their first two albums. I never considered them goth, though. I liked the neo-Victorian imagery in the second album a lot, but it seems to have all faded.... The worst thing about this band is their shit, tween-like drama, and the absolute worst thing about that is that I've slightly given into it, since the basis of the drama is from that new band that Ben Moody started with that American Idol chick - and I've been listening to them more often because they sound less like what "new" Evanescence sounds like! It's no wonder most people don't bother with this band anymore.

And it was only a matter of time before they tried to get in on the Twilight biz. *shudder at the T-word*

I'd throw myself in the "Fan until Fallen" club. I still listen to their old stuff, and their Fallen tour is still on my list of top 5 concerts i've enjoyed...

That being said, anyone who enjoyed the band "pre-open door" may also enjoy We Are The Fallen. Which is a not so subtle poke at Amy Lee... The band is made up of most of the members of Evanescence at the time of Fallen, who have subsequently left the band. I still find them to be a bit to "processed" for my taste, but none the less, they are there for those that enjoy the sound.

Because there are certain universal facts, Wolfie.

And I think we're up to 6, but 2 of them don't like the band anymore, so we're at 4.

Get those comments in folks, because this offer won't be repeated.

I liked Fallen and The Open Door (both of which I do own by the way), and it was mostly for Amy Lee's singing. But I'm not a huge fan, nor do I feel like I'm missing out by not hearing their new album yet.

I like them, but I can only listen to them for so much at a time.

I bought Fallen... but every time I listen to it I can't seem to disassociate it from Christianity. I know they are not a Christian band now, but they were labelled as such when they first started.

Every time I hear them it just reminds me of the bad old days when I considered myself Christian (which I am glad to say are long ago)... meaning I don't listen to it anymore.
