 Re: Health and Fitness
Yay Bfly! Show that metal monster who's boss! (that's what my Weight Watcher friends call the scale). Krumping - I'd probably trip over my own feet and land on the top of my pea-sized head. I've been losing steadily, a pound a week. I've lost 8 pounds from my starting point. Could be because I've been doing more intense weight lifting, and I have improved in ability. Plus I'm running a bit faster. LS noticed the difference someday he won't have to slow down so much for me when we run together.

 Re: Health and Fitness
I started caring about my health this summer. I've lost quite a bit of weight from just watching what I eat, drinking more water, and occasionally exercising. I'm not sure how much weight I've lost, but I look a bit slimmer/more muscular now. I've cut off sodas completely and mainly just been more careful with what I eat.
Slightly relevant: I find that listening to rap music can really help you when jogging and other exercises. I know most people here don't like rap (I honestly didn't until last year), but the steady, defined beat and fast vocals can help take your mind off a repetitive exercise.

I'm working on that right now. I'm trying to cut down on my sweets (candyholic) and drink more then 8 cups of water daily. I'm slowly losing the weight. My pants are getting baggier every day. I listen to things with a hard, fast beat when i'm jogging or doing cardio. It helps the time fly. I listen to metal, techno, or darkwave. Classical or more calming things when i'm doing the rest of my workout.

 Re: Health and Fitness
I have a daily workout that I do 6 days a week. I eat a vegetable based diet with some lean meat. I eat high protein and low carb. I don't eat processed sugar if I can avoid it. I try to eat as many antioxidants as I can, a decent amount of fiber, and I drink plenty of water to keep myself hydrated.

Aggro-tech or Industrial bands work just as well! Hard beats and fast vocals, very energizing.

 Re: Health and Fitness
:wumpscut:, Combichrist, Rammstein(I often clean to Reise, Reise), Frontline Assembly, Front 242, Skinny Puppy(depends on album, my favorite is VIVIsectVI), Actually, aggro-tech and industrial are both Industrial(apparently). The album Pretty Hate Machine by NIN is actually pretty good to walk to. You can even keep beat to the slow songs.

 Re: Health and Fitness
A compliment from a Whovian! Ran-walked (5 min run 1 min walk intervals) 10 miles yesterday. Felt good except I forgot to put on anti-chafing stuff and am now paying for it. Chafing really hurt yesterday but seems better today. I'll go and lift weights soon.

 Re: Health and Fitness
Got my new plan on Friday! I was all excited and scared using the big boys weights room as it is populated by enormous eastern European men who lift what I assume is my entire body weight over their heads on a regular basis, but i enjoyed learning new things about weight lifting and getting into a serious routine. I do squats, deadlift, pull ups, dips and kettle swings as I'm just learning how to keep proper form.

 Re: Health and Fitness
Good for you! That sounds like a great workout that will do you a lot of good. Don't worry about the other folks, they're mainly paying attention to their own workouts.
Just lifted weights for 20 minutes. Getting better.

I already have Rammstein, Skinny Puppy, and Combichrist on my Walkman, i'll check out the others tonight.

 Re: Health and Fitness
I am so unhealthy. I could fast walk for about 2 minutes and already be huffing and puffing

 Re: Health and Fitness
I want to get a pedometer to see how much I actually walk. I'm looking at getting a Fitbit Ultra for Christmas or something. I like that it records your sleeping patterns, too. I would like to see how much i'm actually sleeping. I know I don't sleep much but i'm still curious. Has anyone heard anything about Fitbits?

BAH my weight has stuck for the last two weeks, going back and forth by a pound or so. LS and I tell each other "Just keep doing it" (exercise and healthy eating) but right now I feel blah (slow afternoon at work). I should probably run more than 3 days a week. Just feeling a bit down right now.
