Feeling at home during the night
I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place. This seemed slightly gothic to me, but if this is better suited in General Discussion, feel free to move it.I've just started to realize that I feel more alive at night than I do during the day. Especially on a clear night when the moon is full. I especially love talking walks at night when it's snowing. I don't know, I feel a surge of energy rush through me and...yeah anyway. Good lord I sound strange. Does anyone else feel more comfortable at night? More alive and alert? Perhaps even when the moon is full/crescent/waxing waning? Or even when the stars are out/hidden? Or maybe you just feel more comfortable in the dark? Has anyone ever tried being nocturnal, by any chance? Discuss.

Re: Feeling at home during the night
I prefer it at night, it's more relaxed and peaceful. Daytime can be really hectic and night time is just, well.. Not. Obviously going into town on a night there are a tonne of clubs and there's still noise, but at day that noise is everywhere.

Re: Feeling at home during the night
I love the night. Daytime is filled with responsibilities. Nighttime is playtime. But I love waking up really early, having a cup of coffee and taking my dog for a long walk while I practice mindful meditation. But then again, that's kind of pre-day time.
During the winter, when there is less light, I tend to get depressed, but I've been counteracting that this year by indulging myself with two lightboxes. If anyone suffers from SAD, I highly recommend this.

Re: Feeling at home during the night
Night is the only time I get to myself.....mostly.
Yeah, I prefer to be a "night owl", though my lifestyle over the past year has left me mostly exhausted during the night. I do love the dark though, mostly for it's silence.

Re: Feeling at home during the night
For me, nothing makes me feel quite as "Alive" & "Fresh" as a walk in the night. It's exhilarating and I always feel like I could go on forever... Usually I only make it as far as the closest pub, but at least it is still 1.5km away... But, ya... Night is my "happy place". I often loath having a 9-5 job. Mostly due to the fact it's am to pm. I use to work nights and it was a much more pleasant experience, especially when your social circle works the same way.

There's something about nighttime; the way the air catches one's breath underneath a sky full of teasing stars and a perfect moon. I find that nighttime walks are best around Halloween, since the clouds in the sky are dense, dark and alluring...

I only decide against going for a walk if it's snowing or icy, then I just stay at home and have a hot chocolate or something I tend to get lost in my own thoughts too, sometimes I even have self realisations hah

Re: Feeling at home during the night
^^But snow on the ground is the best time to take a walk at night! I don't know, I love winter, and I love night, so taking a walk during a snowy night is exhilarating. I really love my night classes (when I'm not tired as fuck) because they go from 6 to 10, so at some point it's going to be dark. I actually just like the 30 min. breaks we get because I get to wander around campus looking for snacks. This usually involves going outside.

Re: Feeling at home during the night
The best ever is when you've got nothing going on the next day, and just staying awake to watch the dawn. Being outside by yourself in the wee hours of the morning when the sky starts to burn is usually my favorite time ever, bar none.

I love it!

Re: Feeling at home during the night
By default I sleep during the day instead of at night, but I haven't been able to in quite a while between family emergencies, dealing with medical-services, insurance companies, etc. I've had so much going on in the last 6 months or so that I have had to keep semi-normal sleeping hours in order to be awake when I have to be doing stuff. When I was still a student I was normally going to sleep sometime around 7-9am.

Re: Feeling at home during the night
I have noticed many times that I can be extremely exhausted during the day, very sleepy, in constant want of a nap, etc. Let's say I don't take the nap, I don't drink any coffee, so on. Once night hits, I am wired. Happens pretty frequently. I have no idea why, but it's something I've observed regularly over the years. I will say, however, I hate driving at night. Other peoples's headlights tend to bother me more than most people. And my apartment complex has tons of those lights that periodically turn on and off (for safety), which means my room is never totally dark at night, which is annoying as hell

Re: Feeling at home during the night
I checked "not really" but it's seasonal. Cold weather makes me sleepy at night (miserable if I have to go outside then). In the summer I always get the urge to turn nocturnal. I'm more a creature of the mid-afternoon than the night, really. Also early morning. I absolutely love pre-dawn.
