Post What is this?
Bear with me, I'm still learning about the music of our subculture. I heard a band called Flowing Tears last night and loved them. But I'm not sure what to call their music. Does it fall under the Goth umbrella? I've done some research, but I'm still not sure. (I find that half of the music defined as Goth online, isn't.) So I thought I'd ask the experts.

They started off as an atmospheric doom metal band and while they've changed a lot since they're still under the metal umbrella [though I would find it very hard to call any but their first release "doom metal"]. They also tend to surround themselves with people in the metal part of the industry, like Vorph's appearance in their latest release, their current label specifically focuses on female fronted metal, some of their album artwork has been done by the same guy who does stuff for Paradise Lost & Moonspell. They do metal music festivals in Europe & are scheduled to be at Metal Female Voices Fest 7 next week.

Thanks so much for the info. Doom metal never crossed my mind. May I ask where you found your information? I wasn't having any luck and that way I'll have some good sources in the future.

I was already familiar with it since I have been listening to them since I discovered their Swansongs album in 1998-ish and have their entire discography, but I am sure all this information is out there between last.fm, discogs, and their website.

A lot of "Gothic" metal bands started out as Doom Metal bands. Early Theatre of Tragedy with Liv on vocals for example.

Dose any one have any recommendations for music based off of these following bands, Angelzoom, and Icon & The Black Roses. I also have one aditional question as well. I just need to know if those to bands that I just listed are truly part of our sub culture?

Two things, please stop rezzing zombie threads.

And secondly, don't hijack threads for your own means just because you lack the ability to start a thread of your own.

If you have any questions, read the thread about Posting.
