I'm excited because I just bought Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z. Brite. I still have yet to crack it open but will do so today.

Yep. I've only read the first book by Robert Graves, and I've seen the BBC series lots of times. I've got the entire series on DVD and I never get tired of it. Of course, Livia is my favorite character.

Livia is great, my favorite scene is when she's [spoiler I guess for those who haven't seen it] having that frank chat with a fellow poisoner. The character Livia in the Sopranos is inspired by her. I did not like the way she was portrayed in Rome, however. Have you seen that? I loved Rome, though. Was also disappointed by the older Augustus, as well. The younger Augustus just seemed more intelligent. Oh, the copy I have of The Golden Ass is translated by Graves. But I haven't read it, it's my dad's copy, I'm hoping to read it in the original Latin. Though maybe I should read it in English first. Hmn.

Started Deadworld by J. N. Duncan. As a nice change of pace, one of the lead characters is a lesbian.

Finished the audiobook version of The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, and have started listening to it again from the beginning. I'm liking it much more the second time. I'm reading it for a book club I belong to. The title is derived from a line in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar,

Cassius:
"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,
But in ourselves, that we are underlings."

Anne Rice's "Interview with the Vampire." My first time reading it, too.

I picked up a volume of vampire erotica edited by Poppy Z. Brite... "Love in Vein" I think was the title. It was in the bargain bin at Barnes and Noble. Anyway, I think I'll stay on this vampire novel kick and start reading it once I'm finished with Rice's book.

I've just finished JUDGEMENT OF SOULS by Margarita Felices.

It was good, but a little too short. Some of the characters needed fleshing out (no pun intended), mainly Daniel and his Grandfather.
Needs a sequel ?

I'm now reading Frederick Douglass's first autobiography (also for class). It certainly has provoked my thoughts. It's hard for me to imagine how people could have treated each other like that. I just can't really wrap my mind around it. Then I think to women's rights and how all that could have even happened (and that battle was won only more recently!). Then it gets me to the big issue today of gay rights (I know, it's a bit more complex because there is a major religious component). I just don't understand how the hell people can't just treat one another as human beings. You don't have to agree with their opinions, but why can't you at least respect them? [/rant]

For fun reading I'm still working on the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I'm really dragging on it now because Arbitrator (who doesn't seem to get on here anymore) did a damn fine job of ruining the book for me. This is the exact reason I haven't read any of the Harry Potter books past the third one. I just find it so hard to read them once the big plot twists have already been ruined for me.

The Last Werewolf (Glen Duncan) was recommended to me a while ago, but I've only just got around to reading it.
On the whole very well written, although I didn't feel that all of the Were sex added much to the overall plot or characters.
Well worth a read, good plot(s) and the prospect of a great sequel too

Hunter S. Thompson is my favourite...

I'm going to start reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children at lunchtime today. I hope it's as good as it looks.

Well, I loved Exquisite Corpse; Poppy is an amazing writer! Now, I've started Drawing Blood. The opening chapters alone were enough to pull me in!
