Alice in Zombieland wrote: I have this unpaid job where I review horror movies. It's nice, and it's the perfect excuse for eating popcorn and watching movies, because I'm totally working, so I can complain when people disturb me. Anyway, the site I'm writing for is booming. It's just a little project for a small group of people who love horror movies, and there's 300 visitors per day now. Not bad.
So now I'm chatting with the owner (I'm so dissapointed he didn't like Cabin Fever 2. I mean, there's half naked girls in it!), and planning on which movie to review next. I'll be super stressed this weekend - I'm always stressed out when I have to write something. Am I the only one who feels this way? I keep reading what I've already written, and then I don't know how to continue. I kind of lose the natural flow, so to speak. Spiffy job. I wish I had one like it.

I'd probably die of heart failure from being scared out of my wits all the time lol... I can only watch horror movies if they contain monsters. If it is human being based gore I end up having nightmares for weeks. I guess I'm just not that into the horror genre... now, monster/horror-comedy is a different kettle of fish

I hope something great comes out of it Thanks Rogoth. I won't know until mid October but I'm hoping it'll be good news. Also, two exams down and one due on May 7th (got two assignments due in that class too but still, almost done!). I'd be nervous all the time if I watched horror movies that often. I like older horror movies not the more recent ones usually.

I watch a movie like saaay, Pumpkinhead and not get scared because there aren't any monsters like the Pumpkinhead beast in real life. Freddy's real fine, though I still am a *tad* weary of Jason Vorhees. I couldn't watch The Ring for the longest time because Samara Morgan is just a girl. A rather evil girl.I actually find Freddy Kreuger to be rather corny - he's been killed what, how many times now but still comes back to life? Sheesh, he's like the Count Dracula of slasher flicks.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
I love the Nightmare On Elm Street movies myself.
Personally, when it comes to horror films, I love the supernatural horror and psycologocal horror (which can cross into the thriller genre). The Exorcist, Silent Hill, the Children of the Corn, and the bulk of the A Nightmare on Elm Street series are among my favorites.
And other than the original Halloween, (as before stated) the bulk of the A Nightmare on Elm Street films, and even Psycho, I don't go for the slasher genre.
Alice: Good luck with the reviews. I'll read if you let me.
I tried doing the same thing myself, mostly for fun, but since I have a lack of readers, I've more or less given up on it.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
Horror is one of the best genres in my opinion. I really enjoy watching them, in the weird sense of "This better be scary". That being said, I can't dive into the horror scene and never return, I have to watch a few comedies every now and then or I'll end up never coming back from the darkness

I watch comedies too. I'll admit to being an Adam Sandler fan, well, of most of his stuff at least

He's a one trick pony. That being said, I still find his films hilarious and easy to watch, Anger Management and Big Daddy being my favourites. I never really did find out who that pretty girl in that mirror was.

I'm not a big fan of slasher movies. Smug psychopath characters make me angry. I've ended up yelling at the screen before.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
I thought I was the only one who had trouble with horror flicks. I generally can't watch them except for the comedic ones like army of darkness. I can handle psycho thrillers like Blair witch ok but not the slashers. It's been a while since I seen it but the shining was ok too.

I'm not keen on slasher flicks either. I much prefer the old B&W movies and the 60s/70s stuff with any of the holy trinity - Vincent Price, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.
The original Wicker Man is pretty much my perfect film.

I'm not the biggest fan of Horror / Thrillers, but I do love a good horror or thriller movie every once in while, I just have to be in the mood for it. I usually spend all my television time watching documentaries.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
So today I had an unpleasant experience. See, I went to the local library today and some guy wanted help with his English. I figured why not... and then he started asking personal questions about my life (like where I went to school and stuff) and when I said I had to leave he kissed me on the cheek. WTF?! If I see him at the library again I will go to the librarian or someone else at the circulation desk and hopefully he won't bother me again. >.< Creeepy.

The original Wicker Man is pretty much my perfect film. I wish that the film industry took a page from the past and used some of what I call the "old time" school of acting and directing and let the actors be the special effects (with minimal CGI or make up) that light up the picture. I really feel like films today rely too much on '3D', CGI, and unoriginal, highly repeated plots with predictable endings and curve balls. If we were to go *further* into the past, we can look at the German Expressionists, and even further still - check out the ancient Greeks. The latter had an all-male cast and *minimal* technology - yet plays and other productions were put on for potentially thousands of citizens, slaves, women, and what were called "Metics", or what we would consider to be landed-immigrants in our post-modern globalized world today. -- Fri Apr 27, 2012 3:11 pm -- Dragonwings wrote: So today I had an unpleasant experience. Maybe in his home country, a kiss on the cheek is common. I believe the French kiss on the cheek as part of their standardized greeting. I'm completely with you on the creepy factor though. Hell, I don't even touch most people I meet apart from a standard handshake because speaking from experience - not everyone has the same idea of 'personal space.'
