My philosophy is pretty much deep and goes more than the basics, underlying the traits, personality, melancholic and phlegmatic temperament mixed together, tastes, reflection of my clothing, art, mindset and music in reasons, art, other feelings, sensory/sensual feelings, aesthetics, individualism, expression and statements to explain the true me. The basics are pretty much principles of 'being yourself' and love what I like doing personally. My goals include finding the 'special someone' who would understand me, love me, support me and care for me. For life in general I see it as a box where the majority of 'mundanes' follow society and have boundaries and a poor society where war, oppression and other flaws exist and a limit of life before you die and your soul lives on somewhere unknown after you die.

But what's your philosophy?

I've checked that I may be a Hendoism for the pleasure in life and Existentialism for my individuality I stated.
I rather follow my beliefs and philosophies based on Hendoism and Existentialism. I can admit I'm a mix of philosophies and I can't fit in one type.

Post Re: What is your philosophy?
My philosophy on life is this, life is an never ending puzzle that is constantly shifting. When we think we have figured out some part of what we call "reality" or our "life" it changes to show another part of itself. A life lived well, to me, is a life where a person has spent time to study themselves.

My religious philosophy gets a little complicated at times but I will try to keep it clear. I believe that the Universe is a conscious entity. The Universe is also divided within itself into infinitely smaller parts. Each part is another way the the Universe is experiencing itself. Within these pieces is "Deity," this is where the Universe takes an active role in helping its individual parts interact with the Universe. "Deity" further divides itself into a masculine and a feminine aspect, which in turn divide themselves into "deified" representations of abstract ideas and traits. Such as a goddess of love and a god of fertility. My belief that everything is Deity/Universe effects how I interact with the world around me. Every life taken, plant and animal, is a sacrifice of Deity/the Universe to allow itself to experience itself through me. Universe also does not want me to experience nothing but misery and so wishes that I should be comfortable in this life.

Each life or manifestation of the Universe is made up of energy and as such should be treated as a part of myself. I seek to leave as little of a negative impact on the world around me as possible. While also seeking to leave a positive legacy for those after me.

Post Re: What is your philosophy?
My personal philosophy is a hodge podge of beliefs I've come to accept as truth by exposure to various world religions and theologies, personal reflection, quantum theory, and not too infrequently, stand up comedians. I still firmly believe that one of the last truly great philosophers was George Carlin. I was raised Christian, so a good chunk of my foundation comes from the teachings of Christ. And yes, it does disgust me to see what modern Christianity and Catholicism has turned into, and how the average 'Christian' you come across acts. But I digress. I'll just sum up the main points of my beliefs.

-I believe that exploration into quantum physics has given us a glimpse of God. Experiments dealing with different subatomic particles has been showing again and again that many show behavior that would seem to indicate awareness. We see this with the quantum zeno effect that was discovered by accident when a researcher noticed that when a particular radioactive element they were experimenting with was directly observed, radioactive decay would cease. It didn't matter the length of time it was being directly observed, and it has been replicated numerous times by others. There is also the two slit experiment that was used to determine the behavior of photons, particularly if they acted as particles or waves. The answer is both. By shooting photons one at a time through a plate of metal with two slits and measuring where they hit on the sensor on the back wall, they recorded a wave pattern: instead of two bars of light expected from sending them one at a time, it created multiple lines that would be expected from particles interfering with one another. When sensors were set up to closely watch which slit each photon passed through, it's behavior changed to create two bars of light. This has also been replicated numerous times. The universe is alive and aware.

-I believe God to be a truly neutral entity. I'm still debating how much God interacts and interferes with our lives, but I believe first and foremost in free will. Why do bad things happen to good people? Because our actions cause a ripple effect which will effect those around us. That is the gift and curse of free will and what I believe to be the mechanism of karma. If we send out bad, that's what we're going to surround ourselves in, same as our surroundings will be bad if we keep destructive people around us.

-I believe in reincarnation. I believe we are here to learn and to grow, and that one time around isn't enough. I've experienced visions, always brief and rarely longer than about five seconds, of looking through another person's eyes in very different eras. Whether this is psychosis or genuine, I can't know. I also believe in the possibility of the collective unconscious suggested by Carl Jung. I believe it's why in cases of disaster, many stories come out of people who avoided an untimely fate because of a bad feeling in their gut. Sure, flight cancellations and the like happen all the time. In these cases of disaster, it is a far higher number in most incidents I've taken the time to look into. We are all capable of at least minor psychic abilities, but it's still wise never to trust anyone that's trying to charge you money to show off theirs.

-I believe that the afterlife is disconnecting from our physical bodies to rejoin what I've come to call 'the collective', or the collective universal awareness that I consider God to be. We learn so that God can learn and experience, if I'm to condense. I'm also still unsure if I believe in our physical forms after beginning my research into the holographic universe theory which states that we are beings of energy that have believed our physical representations into existence, which doesn't fall out of line with idea of God being an all encompassing being composed of the universe. Knowing that what we call 'normal matter', IE all the matter we can see, sense, and measure directly, only makes up about five percent of the total universe has led me to consider this possibility a bit more seriously. We're living on the bright, shiny top of the universe with barely any working knowledge of the things that comprise the vast majority of the universe around us: dark matter and dark energy. And don't get me started on our loose grasp of gravity and time.

-I believe above all that we should operate in love. To me, the meaning of life is to love and be loved, as well as laughing as often as possible. We should care about our fellow man, regardless of who they are, where they're from, or if we agree with their theology. We should show compassion and acceptance if we ever want the hope of a peaceful future. Greed and selfishness gets in the way all too often, and even the most steadfast practitioner in this sort of belief is more at risk than ever of being completely disheartened by the scale of contradiction presented in our world today. When politicians can discriminate against a group of people, when major corporations can buy the the actions of the government, when we simply accept our country bleeding out more and more jobs, rewarding behavior that has caused untold suffering, and creating a system where he with the most money wins, we as humanity have all lost and have forgotten what truly matters.

I think that sums up the big points. This is something that has been evolving for me for almost as long as I can remember, and I have no doubt that it will continue until the day I die.

Post Re: What is your philosophy?
I finally decided to post in this topic, mostly because my philosophy seems to be losing its strength for me. I have always followed Scarlett OHara's statement " I will think about that tomorrow.." This has stood me in good stead for years as by tomorrow the thing has usually resolved in one way or another.

Problems now seem to stay longer, grow larger and bother me more these days. Perhaps I need a new philosophy...or perhaps I need a new life.

of course there is always my signature to fall back on, and I have been dancing though life for years.........maybe I am insane.

Post Re: What is your philosophy?
My personal philosophy:

1. Everyone is fucked up in their own special way. For a time I didn't want to admit it. I figured that I was somehow better than the next person because I didn't have their flaw, or I would downplay what I thought were flaws and throw it in the closet with my other skeletons such as the people I betrayed, the lies I told in order to get something, contributing to an event where it indirectly led to a death of a former friend, and other shitty things I've done. Eventually I stopped coping and embraced the fact that I am a shitty person that has done shitty things. I don't try to make the world right because it's not going to make things right. Just learn from your fuck ups, embrace it, and move on. Most importantly don't compare yourself to others. Nobody is better than anyone else no matter what we might say, so stop comparing. Everyone is equal when we die anyway.

2. You WILL offend someone, so stop watching your own ass and walking on eggshells. We get offended because something goes against our belief system and our idea of morality. If you say something that the other person disagrees with and they call you a bigot, ignorant, or some other generic insult they have no argument. Besides, why would you care about what they think of you? They obviously can't handle opposing beliefs due to their lack of maturity and can't discuss it with you in a rational manner so why try to get on their good side? Unless you wanna nail him/her but that's not the point. Though this doesn't mean go forth and be the biggest ass you can be, it means say what you're gonna say and stick to your guns if it's something you believe in and stop giving a fuck.

3. Re-assess, reinvent, prioritize, execute.
What's this obscure bullshit, Arbitrator? Fuck you, I'm typing.

We're dynamic, we all know it, why resist it? Every now and then something comes along and fucks our world up. Could be a death of a loved one, near death experience, divorce, the police are getting close to finding out where you put those bodies, and so on. There comes a time where we need to figure out if our beliefs really make sense the more experiences we get. If who you are seems fake and you don't know why you believe in something anymore ditch it. Isolate yourself from all your fucktarded friends and people in your life and go do something alone. The more time you spend away from everyone the more you'll figure out who you really are; as if the life changing experience didn't already tell you in the first place. Then figure out what's important to get in order then move forward with it. Everyone needs to figure out who they really are, and the thing is we always change. If you get shit for changing that's their problem, not yours.

4. Stop giving a fuck about what goes on outside and making other people's problems your own. Not sure what it is, but everyone seems compelled to play the self-righteous crusader battling eeevil wherever they may find it. Yelling at people because they are racist, criticizing buddies because they bought an SUV that's killing the earth, donating to some bullshit charity that ends up screwing them in the end in order to stroke their feel goods, and so on. What people do with their lives is their problem, don't make it yours. It's ironic that every time some person bitches about how some Christian, Muslim, (insert religion here) didn't keep their beliefs to themselves but they turn right back around and tell someone else their pseudo-intellectual belief about why they think some social policy is the way to go. Rather than just saying "Hey that's what he believes and I'm cool with that" it spills into some idiotic rant that could of been avoided should the person not given a fuck in the first place. I learned when you start giving a fuck about shit you cannot control you become more thin skinned and standoffish; this is how douches are born. Concentrate on yourself and give a fuck about things that directly impact you such as loved ones, booze, damn good food, and taking care of yourself, and the attention whores of society will hate you. But the important thing is that you'll love yourself and people will want to be like you when they grow up.

In short, change yourself, not the world or other people. If we all improve ourselves without concentrating on others the world will be a less fucked up place.

5. Only you know what's good for you, nobody else can tell you that.

Short story. I was in a restaurant in the mountains that had this log cabin theme, and here comes this guy who had a few too many beers. Automatically we start shooting the shit while I had some IPA and eating. He recognizes me as a veteran, told him I was and I just got out ect. He then proceeds to talk about what career I should go in, and how it's a bad time to do what I'm doing and other unsolicited advice. I then talk about going back in as a Marine, then going off to the French Foreign Legion, which I'm dead serious about doing. He then says how I'm batshit insane. No arguments here. But this takes me way back, pretty sure you can relate when everybody and their dog started suggesting I should be a doctor, lawyer, and some other prestigious jobs.

Nobody else knows what's good for you, and when you start ignoring what you want to do that's the moment where you stop living your life, and start living their life instead, and for what? So they can brag about how you make X amount of money and own a sweet mansion and you have a barely legal Swedish swimsuit model/porn star for a wife? If that's what you want go for it. But do it only if that's what you wanna do, not because someone told you to. I'm pretty happy doing what I want to do with no strings attached. You'll lose people in your life, but the best thing is whoever is left are the ones worth keeping.

This is pretty much what I go by. It took a shit ton of bad and near death experiences to get this far, and I'll have more down the road. But nothing pisses off people who hate you more than perseverance in adversity; which is really the name of the game.

Talk less & drink more is a very good philosophy in the face of opinionated totalitarians/busybodies/analists telling y'all what the hell to do and how to do it.

Drinking eliminates all of life's problems! Until you wake up with a nasty hangover and everything is the same as it was before you started drinking. ;)

I've never agreed 100% with any pre-designed philosophy I have seen. The whole discipline tends to be a bit soporific, I think, given the overblown language in which it is usually discussed. The main exception would be Nietszche, whose poetic language enthralled me as a young teen .... and maybe Anton LaVey who certainly had a few humorous quips at organized religion.

In any case, I have been influenced by pre-Christian religions, the modern environmental movement, and some bits and pieces of recent thinkers.

I think human beings are intelligent animals who should recognize themselves as such and develop their intellectual and carnal awareness as they see fit - as long as they take responsibility for their own actions. Moderation and foresight temper the excesses of unrestrained hedonism.

Politically, I think people (consenting adults) should be free to do what they want as long as they don't pass off the costs to other people or to the environment.

I don't have one, universal idea of what life is or should be about and how everyone should be acting. Despite strong sense of justice I am aware that world is not fair and it never meant to be.

Whenever I can I try to force people to think outside the box of prejudices and despite not being free from them myself I always do my best to approach new people without judging them in any way prior to them making some sort of an impression. Saying that, I always try to imagine the point of view of others, but it doesn't mean I'll like them any better after doing so.

In the end I am concerned with issues of animal abuse, discrimination and people being assholes in general, but whenever one law will pass or one stereotype will decline new problems will come.

So my philosophy is: our nature is to be our own worst enemies and the only way to deal with our self-destructive tendencies is to sort issues as they come up, because we'll never be suites to live in a perfect world.

I think I could probably write a book on this idea, but to boil it down:

On conduct: do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

On religion: having faith is more important than believing in a higher being.

On people: accept them for who they are.

On politics: the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. We have to challenge old ways to find solutions to new problems.

On morality: do the right thing- the thing you know is right to do. Worst case scenario, choose the lesser of two evils.

On life: Learn from your mistakes and the mistakes of others. Do the best you can.

The most important values a person can have are: humility, bravery, love, compassion, wisdom, respect, and truth. :D
