^^I have the same issue. But I've always wanted to donate because it could help save someone's life.

Well I'm 6' 3", 230lbs, and male, so I donate a pint and barely feel a thing.

^^I'd love to donate a pint. But I'd probably pass out. Or I might not. Who knows? those doctors might be lying to me...*shifty eyes*

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
I technically also "donated" blood today myself, but it was only a few vials and it was for medical testing and not for life-saving.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
I would donate blood- if they put me out first. I've had such bad experiences with needles going into my veins that the very thought causes the nerves to ache (literally. In a hospital once they missed 17 times, two of which were pick lines). I don't mind body modification, but hospitals or hospital like settings where needles go into a vein- I can't do it.

ETA:
I was told in class by my new team mate (only two more weeks with him, thank the gods) that I was too young to have any political opinions. Now let me back up a little.
I am taking a social psychology class. This night we happened to be discussing politics. He is in his 60s, very conservative and set in his Republican ways (and proud of it). And then he meets me. Enough said. Because he was absent first night of class I picked out the conversational subjects we had to write about: Abortion and Marriage Equality. (We had to choose controversial political subjects)
He was pissed about the topic choices and. At first he said women can't get abortions, etc... needless to say- we disagreed and he thought me rather evil for supporting it and made fun of me the rest of the night about it.
He also went on to say gays should have no rights. when I mentioned my sexuality he said 'yeah, well I fought in a war so you could choose to be that way." Really? Wow. Umm, not a choice. Not that it mattered to him- he'd already made up his mind that it was vile and 'gays' were to be scorned. He went on to ask how old I was. When I told him I was 25 he said:
"Yeah, you're too young to have any political opinions. You'll grow up."
It was one of those moments you want to say screw Gandhi, but you know if you do it you'll end up in jail, so you bite your tongue and keep your hands to yourself...
People annoy me.

Political discussions are usually ones i tend to avoid and keep to myself, typically for that very reason Midi. I'm sure you can pull through it and be ok in the end.
Been a while since posting for me, like usual. If i had something good to add other than "here i am, now where's the water cooler" (ok, not LITERALLY, but you get what i mean), i'd post more.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
Midi, there's so many more grown up people who have no clue and no opinion on politics, that it just needs younger people to care o.O
People annoy me too, here's one reason why:
I've just had a discussion with a Christian, telling me I'm not allowed to use medecine/drugs as Jesus didn't have them or use them either...so it's a work of the devil Paradox as it is, we had that discussion on the INTERNET
Don't tell me Jesus had internet....
The world is full of paradox things

I'd have loved to see his face taht moment Quote: Eh, I'd just have told him that he'll be dead soon so his opinion is invalid Love your answer anyway, hope the world out there is behaving itself for a while and that people here get their problems solved

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
Watching from the outside, I would just offer encouragement to those in the US going through this social-political turmoil... The world is changing, it's moving forward and I really believe that this decade will be the final death throes of the "Social Right". History will be on your side, as much as it was sort of a joke, Arq is right, they will all be dead soon. I am personally more concerned for the state of your democratic party, then the republican one with the level of authoritarian power it's grasping for... but that's a conversation for another ongoing thread.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
Very true, Sleepless! And thanks everyone. Had only I been witty enough to think of Arq's comment myself in that moment! Yeah, the teacher really opened a can of worms by making us discuss politics that night. There really is a reason people tend to avoid those conversations in groups such as that! I'm getting through it and he can get over it, because I'm not going to change my views.

I just made someone go mad, and ended the discussion by saying "you're very arrogant"...he must love me... me->

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
Friends of mine have been to the WGT, a gothic festival, and the stories tehy brough home are sad. They're all Cybergoths, and what happened is that "normal" Goths printed flyers against Cybers, made up slogans and threw candies at them. They even have a 100 followers facebook page against Cybergoths. And their conclusion of the festival is that "yay, less Cybers than last year"
I thought this scene was tolerant, I really did. But among the German speaking Goth friends I feel more and more intolerance, and I can read it in the forums. I haven't really met that here yet. Is it only the movement in Germany or do you feel the general Gothic scene is becoming more intolerant?
I kept telling everyone the Gothic scene is amongst the most tolerant scenes, have I been lying, or is a small group of intolerant people much more easily spotted in a tolerant scene?
I will have to think about that. But I certainly don't think what happened at that WGT is a good direction to go.
