The Prada Menswear Fall 2012 campaign looks VERY Victorian
http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/2012/06/pr ... paign.htmlDark colored, high collared, and double breasted? The 80's are back, but this time it's the 1880's I'm talking about!! Check this stuff out, it all looks strongly and unmistakably Victorian. I love it. Afterall, The Devil wears Prada.

Those men look sexy fabulous in those Victorianesque garments! "We want to spend a night with them drinking brandy, playing snooker and discussing the gentlemanly arts. And that’s totally not a euphemism for sex." Indeed! Here's the video of the runway show. And someone on YouTube kindly posted where various actors appear in the video: Quote: garrett hedlund 6:12 jamie bell 07:24 emile hirsch 7:35 willem dafoe 8:02 adrien brody 8:14 and of course the amazing gary oldman 8:30 -- Nephele

I love it! And I see a few pieces I'd actually wear.

I automatically approve of anything involving Gary Oldman & Willem Dafoe , but my, if I had a boyfriend or husband that dressed like that... And while it's not goth, my '60s loving side loves some of the women's collection stuff too...especially the hats!

What might happen with this stuff, as it sometimes does with designer-name fashion, is that after the line gets to the high-end stores, they have less expensive clothing for plebes like us which will appear at JC Penny's, where I recently bought some fine black pants and several Van Huesen shirts for this summer, Euro-daywalker-goth that I am. (as if.)

Well, it looks like Prada is definitely going Victorian this season. I will patiently await the flood of gorgeous Victorian pieces to flood my JCPenny's and other such stores. And I think one of those models might have been the Green Goblin from the Spider-Man movies a few years back.

Hey! Those are truly fantastic outfits. So elegant and classy as if they've come right out of the Victorian era. Did you know Alexander McQueen also tends to have very alternative fashion inspired collections. Check out the Fall/Winter 2009 collection: http://www.fashionising.com/runway/b--a ... 5.html#pg1It has a very cool Sweeney Todd feel to it as well! I love it when designers incorporate this kind of elegance to their clothing!

Cool link to the McQueen page!
I keep hoping someday men will be able to dress nicer and that will be acceptable, but it probably won't happen. On the other hand, those who do like to dress a cut above will simply stand out so maybe that's not so bad. It wasn't all that long ago that hose, wigs, brocade coats were the standard in Europe....now we have.....ballcaps!?

Perhaps LS could find his wedding outfit from one of those designers...? although he's actually been looking at sutleries that make clothes for reenactments.

I loved most of what I saw in that, and could definitely see myself wearing most of those outfits (minus, perhaps, the red coat) on a night out, though I didn't like the high collar thing a lot of them had going on (a turtle neck under the outfit maybe?), but other than that, yes, lower the prices so I can afford this stuff please!
