Is anyone in or has been in the military? If so, what branch and what was boot camp like?

Actually, I'm not in the military, but I am in a military school. I am in the JROTC of the Air Force. The whole school is dedicated to that. This was just for experience purposes. I wouldn't seriously join the military.
I guess it's alright. We do have to wear a uniform everyday and since I am in the higher grades, I teach the younger ones how to march. Marching is simple and fun, if you let it be.

I'm not in the military, however my boyfriend is in the Army. He seemed to enjoy bootcamp, because he's strange. I don't know any details about it really, as I've preferred to stay out of it. All he really bitched about was the other jackasses he had to deal with.

867th S.C.A.R. Sqn. which is coincidentally under the Army (Not US). To be honest "Bootcamp" will probably the worst six weeks of your life depending on where you get sent... I assume you want to join up? I dont Know much about the US millitary but I do know any army worth its salt doesnt fuck about, so I assume its hard slog.

Hmm,
I am in the army. Not U.S though! Also, not full time, more like "call if you need me"-basis. Several years of CQB / MOUT and military police training, and a lot of radio-operative tasks.
Honestly, there is nothing I like more.

I'm not in the military, but am living at a military base oin Germany. My parents both were in the Army(Dad still is), my older sister got discharged from the Coast Guard and there were a few others I believe that served in the Army. From what I've heard from people telling me about Basic Training, all of them cried at least a few times the first two weeks or so, but eventually they got used to it and many say they really enjoy that they made the choice to join, though I myself would never think of joining.

I first joined the U.S. Army briefly from 1997 to 2001.
I was part of Bravo 1/34 company in boot camp in Fort Jackson, S.C., near Columbia and did my Advanced Individual Training (AIT) that October in Fort Lee, VA (near Richmond) as a supply specialist and was stationed in Fort Meade, MD until 1999 when I changed my MOS to Chemical Operations Specialist (COS). I did my training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO until around Christmas 1999 and was stationed there until my 4-year commitment expired in 2001 (ironically right prior to the 9/11 attacks). :O

Fort "Lost-in-the Woods"? You did do your time,moreau36.
Not to split hairs, but isn't "boot camp" basic training for marines specifically and other branches have their own terms for it like "basic combat training"?
Silibo~ married to someone in the military, though not prior service herself.

Yeah is technically called Basic Combat Traing (BCT), but people where I was called it both "boot camp" and/or "basic training" due to the fact that it was thr roughest eight weeks that they'll experience until they're call up to engage in a conflict

I once had a contract to be an EWS Specialist in the chAir Force my senior year in High School. They dq'd me the last time I went to MEPS pending a psych eval... Appairently I'm too looney to join the military.
Since then, I've found it to be impossible to join any branch of the military, but I've learned to come to terms with it. They wouldn't let me keep my piercings anyways.

Isn't that strange?
You can tattoo 90% of your body and the military doesn't care(as long as your hands and face are "clean"-and even that is debatable),but if you have one piercing, they freak out and can fire you.

it's moreso anything visible, and even if it isn't visible, they wont allow you to wear it through boot camp... That would prety much mean my face would be unpierced as well as my ears for at least 4 years, and even the unseen ones, the PA and both nipples and tongue, would be required to be removed for the duration of boot camp.
