About Me

Music

I am what is known as Musically Ecclectic. Meaning that I listen to ALL kinds of music, not one specific genre. I have three favourite genres, Eighties, Musicals and Goth. However this is definately NOT to the exclusion of other kinds of music.

I personally believe that music is a way for people to be able to touch the divine. Music is a powerful force, it can alter moods, even induce a trance like state, it can calm, or hype, please, or enact violent emotions. Nothing else has that much control over humans emotions, ALL humans emotions, it doesnt need to know you to effect you ...

Concequently, I appreciate great musical talent. I appreaciate a singer who can inspire a certain feeling in you, be it the urge to get up and dance, or do something - or at the other end of the spectrum, make you think of lofty heights or even want to cry. I commend any composer who can make music that will make your heart dance on a string and drag you through an emotional rollercoaster. But most of all, I applaud any artist who has variety in what they do. Who doesnt have to churn out the same thing over and over, but can always turn a corner and bring out sometihng different.

I suppose then its lucky for me I have a decent voice (so I've been told on several occasions) -- it has probably saved me quite alot of bruising over the years, as I have a tendancy to sing along to whatever is playing unconciously...

This being said, there ARE types of music I DONT like, mainly because they are monotous, or they just dont appeal to me. They are
    - Country
    - Rap
    - Hip Hop
    - Techno (most)
    - Anything with a vocalist that talks, not sings.

To be fair, I'll list some of my favourite music below aswell, by musical genre. This list is by no means complete, and I plan on re-visiting it and adding to it when I have time ...

Musicals
    - Les Miserables
    - Miss Saigon
    - Phantom of the Opera
    - Chess
    - Riverdance

Eighties
    - Chiorboys
    - Roxette
    - Frente
    - So many more ...

Goth
    - Depeche Mode
    - Sisters of Mercy
    - Nine Inch Nails
    - The Cruxshadows
    - Voltare

Other
    - Jewel
    - Natilie Imbruglia
    - Tori Amos
    - Alanis Morisette
    - Bachelor Girl

There are MANY MANY more bands and artists I could put up there, and thats not even counting singles I like (if not anything else the artist has done). Music is my life, you can never take it from me. Basically, as long as its not in a category I listed that I DONT like, I will listen to it, and tend to enjoy it.
